um...

Oh look, I've become the person who makes shallow, ship-related comments about the CSI: NY promo!

But...Stella and ADAM??????? What the everliving fuck?!?!?!?!? I mean, hopefully that was cut from different scenes or something, or there's some good explanation (Adam's having a dream sequence?), because otherwise, I'm forced to conclude that the writers do not watch their own show.

I'm pretty sure I'm not being an irrational OTP shipper here. I don't feel terribly OTP-ish about Mac and Stella, and in fact, I'd be happy enough for either of them to get together with someone else, or with no one at all, assuming it made any sense whatsoever. I could easily see Stella/Flack, for instance, especially in earlier seasons. If the show would give me anything to work with, in terms of shared screentime and potential subtext, I'd be on a Stella/Hawkes bandwagon in a heartbeat. I haven't seen much of the Mac/Peyton season(s?), but I'm perfectly fine with it in theory.

But Stella and Adam? No way. Because Stella and Adam have a relationship. He's the young, socially awkward geek boy who has a painfully obvious crush on his hot, older, kickass boss who is way out of his league. I say that with affection: I like Adam. But no way does Stella reciprocate that crush. It just doesn't work on any level of characterization, and it smacks way too hard of some socially awkward geek boy writer Mary Sue-ing his way into the script so that his alter ego can sleep with the woman who's way out of his league.

Bah! Maybe it's not what it looks like. And either way, I refuse to care enough about this show to let it actively annoy me. But if we had to have Stella randomly hooking up with another regular cast member, there are far better choices than Adam!
