a new little infatuation

Is it possible the exams are multiplying??? The grading!!! 'Tis AWFUL!!!!! Even more awful than usual, despite the fact that a) they're exams, so I don't have to comment, and b) my students are actually doing pretty well.

Coming up for air amidst the grading this weekend has involved a lovely brunch with grav_ity this morning. And Bones. With which I am ( Read more... )

I suppose I'm fortunate that no one thinks English professors are sexy enough to bother screwing them up in television shows ( ... )

For me, it's the way the show doesn't even pretend to be something it's not. It knows what we want to see. It knows the ship is the draw of the show. It knows what we want and it has no qualms about giving it to us. Booth and Bones are the dating-est non-dating couple EVER.

We never have to worry about stupid shit like messy divorces and fifth kids and producers who refuse to see The Light. There's no doubt Booth and Bones will get together. It's only a matter of time, and the show just wants us to enjoy the ride.

It's like... stress-free. (Plus, omg, how much does Cam rock?)

I do not have fic recs though, because I don't really read fic. I'm so satisfied with the show itself that I don't need fic. Although, fated_addiction writes some fic, and I always love her stuff.

Oh, this sounds great, then! Because yes, this is the kind of thing I'm enjoying about the show so far, but I haven't seen enough to know whether it's actually a longstanding way of being. Yay!

I have found fated_addiction's fic! And her penchant for writing post-eps and missing scenes (totally my favorite genre of fic!) is currently responsible for the fact that I seem to be watching the show backwards. Obviously it would be easy enough to find the beginning of her fic, chronologically, and then start watching the show forwards, reading her fic alongside, but that's somehow one step too many for my grading-addled brain ( ... )

What Jenn said. Plus I like that they seem to actually *like* each other vs big dramatic sexual tension.

I also like that everyone is in on the joke from the start.

I did watch the pilot and hated it with a passion - but now I've been mainlining and up to Season 3.

brynnmck said below that they're like Mulder and Scully's distant, way more functional cousins! I think I could really get behind this idea... ;)

I seem to be watching backwards at the moment. The ep I happened to see was a really recent one, and then instead of going back to the beginning like a normal person, I watched the one prior, and the one prior to that, and...I have a feeling this is silly and I should resume a more normal viewing pattern, but whatever!

I thought that Castle was going to fill my SVU void, and I'm continuing to love Castle LIKE PIE, OMG! But it's pushing really different buttons for me, ultimately. I love Castle for the sparkly dialogue, but I care not a whit for the characters, I must admit. So Castle is really filling my comedy void rather than my cop show void, I think, and I suspect Bones may be the one for the latter: brainless procedural + characters I actually find fascinating and want to read shippy fic about. Hee!

I think there's elements that remind me of the Mulder/Scully relationship a tiny bit as well--and that I think appeals as well.

brynnmck below says they're like Mulder and Scully's distant and way more functional cousins, and I love that idea a LOT!

I'm just going to apologize right now. I don't know *what* my brain is on right now abyssinia4077 April 27 2009, 03:40:07 UTC
Is it possible the exams are multiplying??? Exam A felt lost and lonely, stuck in a giant stack of exams who looked just like him, after being scribbled all over by some undergraduate with poor handwriting. The blue ink still itched on his fourth page ( ... )
