I'm plugging slowly but surely away at BSG, now about midway through the first season. And sometime in the middle of "Six Degrees of Separation" last night, I was struck by that warm, exciting, "yeah, this is fantastic TV" feeling. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the bourbon I was drinking at the time... ;) I think I'm converted. Though I'm also not feeling the least fannish about it (yet?). Hmm.
In other TV things, if y'all aren't watching Friday Night Lights, OMG you should be!!!!!!!!!! Tuesdays, 8:00, I forget which station. Interest or lack thereof in American football is irrelevant to your potential enjoyment of the show. The writing and directing are both fantastic, and the acting is quite solid, as well. And I think the thing that most strikes me is that this is one of the most interesting and accurate portrayal of Southerners that I think I've seen in the media. (Confirm or deny, my fellow Southerners and former-Southerners?) The characters are neither romanticized nor condescended to, and they just feel right to me. I keep catching myself saying, "oh my god, I know those people!" Anyway, good stuff!
(and it appears I'm going to have to acquire a BSG icon if I'm going to keep posting about it!)
