I moved!!! And the new apartment really is the best place ever! I'm never moving again, both because moving is such a pain in the ass and because I want to live here forever. Or at least the next few years.
The Apartment of Awesome may become the single biggest deterrent to dropping out of grad school (because of visa issues, I probably couldn't stay in Canada if I dropped out of school, so I have to stay in school in order to stay in Toronto and in the new home).
There are, however, still boxes everywhere and will continue to be for some time. I won't get my bed for another week, and bookshelves wouldn't fit in the car with all the other IKEA stuff, so I still have no bookshelves. And no word on when the phone, cable, and internet will be set up. But I'm pleased and surprised at my ability to be patient with all this.
I was SOOOO glad that my mom was able to come up and help; she saved me huge amounts of sanity, not to mention quite a lot of money. I did, however, want to smack my sister around a few times. I love her, but she's just so impossible to be around these days, and as soon as I think that, I feel bad and guilty because a lot of it is related to her health, which isn't her fault. But dealing with her did unfortunately create stress where I had hoped stress would be relieved.
I probably won't be able to keep up with the flist much while I'm dependent on the library for internet access (because I'm supposed to be *working* in the library), so if there's something important, poke me in comments here, or email me or something.
