so i haven't updated in like a month. i've been soooooooo busy. i know, no excuse. anyway, here's a quick update to my ever-exciting life.
-brooke's 21st birthday turned out to be horrid. first, the 2 carloads of girls coming from tennessee got stuck because there was a huge tractor-trailer wreck on I-75 and the interstate was completely shut down. so they didn't get to athens until 10:30. and we didn't get to go out until.......12:30. everything in athens shuts down at 2:00. needless to say, we were a bit rushed. and to top all that off, my brother calls me that thursday night to say that he and his roommate are coming down here to surprise brooke with flowers and balloons. the plan was that he would show up around midnight and call me on my cell and i'd tell him what bar we were at so he could walk in and surprise her. because of the interstate fiasco, he didn't get to athens until 4:30 a.m. the one time he does something so nice (and super sweet, i might add), it doesn't work out. i felt so bad for him. the good part is that i got to see my sister chug 2 smirnoff apple twists, drink 2 more of the same like a normal person, do a shot of captain morgan's, another cherry bomb shot, a long island tea, some purple frozen drink and some other shot somebody else bought her. she was gone. gone. gone. gone. she's never drank ANYTHING before. she got so sick. but she needed to let loose and have a good time. the night in general sucked, but i couldn't let her know that i thought that because it was her birthday. i think she had fun. and i'm glad. because she deserves it.
-thanksgiving was relaxing and okay i guess. annie and jeannie were in town and ray fixed us lots of food on wednesday night. i think i drank about 2 bottles of wine, though i'm not too sure on that.
-my mom came down with my best friend and her four-year-old on friday. mel (my friend) surprised me. she had e-mailed ray and asked him if it was okay that she and megan come. then she ended up coming with my mom because she was coming down here anyway. i'm so lucky to have her still in my life as a friend, even though we live 350 miles apart. i called her about a week ago crying because i was mad at another friend of mine and so she decided to come see me. it's nice to know that you still have people out there that care that much about you when you feel lonely in the friend department. i'm a lucky girl.
-as far as my job goes, i've been talking to a few firms around here about employment. i'm really getting sick of the atlanta drive. i can't imagine why people actually live there and put up with it ALL THE TIME. i mean, it takes about 30 minutes to get from hammond drive to I-285 and that's about 5 miles. no, thank you. i prefer my hog mountain roads and cow pastures to that. anyway, i'm talking to this firm in winder that i really like. they don't have a full-time position available right now. but i did a deposition for them a couple weeks ago and the owner told me that my work was the best she'd ever seen with a newer court reporter. i'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone will quit soon.
okay. so that's about it that i can think of. december is going to be crazy. our new living room furniture is being delivered tomorrow and i'm so excited! other december events: ray's christmas party friday night, anna's christmas party on the 11th, and then a fun-filled family week of christmas festivities starting december 22nd. i'll be lucky if i get to post anything before the new year.
back to typing. adios.
