Entry Number 21

Time for an update. Hurrah! Everyone(this is the 2 odd people or so reading my LJ) rejoice. Or not. You know...your call, pretty much.

Pah, anyways. It's 2.30am so I may or may not make sense. We'll see. Reading week started today so I've got no lectures or labs. Yay. Have got a crapload of school stuff to do though, so I'm kinda missing the point of having a random free week of relaxing while still spending 8+ hours daily studying and doing reports. Hmm...anyways, I enjoy studying for my degree so I don't really mind that much. I'm just feeling lazy.

Had the last two days of a five day gene manipulation lab last week and now I've got the lab report to write. This should take me around  three or so days. Then I've got the other lab report on bacteria to do for developmental, but that one should be fairly simple. Oh, I'm apparently actually on top of my studies because I got my first lab report back(I worked on it for five hours a day before submission deadline while watching Frasier online) and I got an A3 for it! It made me so happy. Now, if only  I can keep this up....I should really start going to the library more, but even though it has the books I need, I also have to pay for my coffee so it's not exactly a win-win situation. But will start frequenting there in a wee while because the finals for this term are looming in the not so distant future.

I can honestly say I'm loving this year. Even though the amount of work is soul crushing, I enjoy it because it teaches me actually relevant info that I know I'll be needing. I 'm living with some awesome people and we get along really well. I just had one of the best days ever last sunday and all it involved was waking up late, cuddling up in warm clothes and then spending the day indoors with my flatmates and a few friends, watching Friends and eating pizza. Me and Nikki(one of my dearest friends in Scotland) have also begun weekly meetings at my flat, during which one of us cooks and then we gossip while enjoying a good tea, followed by coffee and way too much for pudding. xD This nicely makes up for the fact that for the first time ever, me and Nikki are apart and have completely different modules.

Eumm...more recent stuff. Hmm. Oh, Halloween was enjoyable. I carved my first Jack-o'-lantern ever. Then I spent the saturday alone in my room, watching horror movies. Apparently I'm not even close to being afraid of them anymore, which is good since loving Lee does involve loving his movie collection(even though he doesn't demand it in the slightest, I know he would like me to be able to watch horror movies with him).  So yeah, I quite enjoyed my Halloween, as I'm not too keen on going out clubbing or the like.

I think I'm buying new boots this week(if I can find a pair for relatively cheap, as I'm not made of money) because I think my lovely brown bag demands brown boots. Not to mention it might be nice to have a pair of boots that doesn't make most people be afraid of me. xD But yeah, I'll have to see about that. Other than that, not much going on. Decided to start growing my nails since it seems that I am able to wear gloves for the one last lab I have left, so no fears of getting anything alarming stuck under there. xD My nails always grow ridiculously quickly so even though I just came to this conclusion a few days ago, they're already looking fab. I just need to go buy some natural pink nail varnish, the kind used for french manicures. No, I don't have the patience to actually do a french manicure, but the pink topcoat used for that makes nails look awesome and natural on its own.

Oh, Lee bought his plane tickets for Funland today. That made me very happy. So if nothing unexpected shows up, I will get to spend what promises to be the best Christmas ever,  with him. Yay. I can't wait to see what he thinks of the Finnish winter and my crazy friends. xD This time, I promise to take more than one picture since some people seemed to be very upset with the lack of photos from California. <.< I'm just hoping it'll snow alot, because the amount of snow during Christmas has been very disappointing in the past few years. And I want to pelt Lee with snowballs...In the most affectionate of ways, of course. <.< Gah. I just need to make the hat before he comes to Finland. Even if I have my exam on the last day of the period, I still have about 1½ days back home before he arrives, which should give me ample time to make a normal woolly hat with ear flaps. n.n Ah, can't wait for Christmas now. Even though I'm trying to remain calm and think about the worst case scenario, as always. xD
