druidmage update
So the lap top made it safely to druidmage. I'm breathing heavy sighs of relief with that. I was so worried someone would decide to keep the package for themselves rather than sending it on. druidmage has only gotten to play with it a little, but he seems to like it and was as impressed with it as I was. I think he understands why I decided to get it even if it didn't have a box any more due to being the display model and last one in the store.
We chatted with webcams going this afternoon. It was so good to be able to see him again. Gavin was climbing over me more than usual so he could see Daddy as well. Yahoo IM was being funky so we had to use MSN messenger. It doesn't matter to me what program we use. Both computers have the major ones (AIM, Y!M, MSN, Skype) so if one doesn't work we can try another.
druidmage has sent me some pictures here and there that I need to add to the family Web site. He sent me some of him in a sandstorm, his "hobbit" hole, the folks he works with and a cut he got during a combatives class.
Since druidmage started the combatives class he has seemed so much happier. It's not exactly Aikido, more like Judo from what he tells me, but it's close enough to put the smile back on his face (and in his voice) that he hasn't worn in several years. He even told the folks he works with, "I don't care when I work, just let me have the time to go to this class. It's one of the few things I can look forward to here." To me it seems like he's gotten a little piece of his soul back that the Army had taken away. I hope he continues to enjoy it.
What else? druidmage is trying to work out in the gym most days to tone down/lose weight. He's hoping to go to the board to make SGT in the next few months and then a couple months after that should be home on leave. Of course that's if everything goes the way we hope. With the Army you just never know.
