reading books and words

What I've Read So Far This Summer
The Purity Myth - made me appreciate the liberal public school I went to.
The Stand - made me realize that without Deus Ex Machina the good (technologically inept, disorganized, but sweet) are boned, and that's why people cling to religion.

What I'm Currently Reading
Inkheart - doesn't make me anything but amused, which is relaxing. There's a deficit of "happy, but not crappy" it seems.

What I Am Going To Read
Sarek - read this YEARS and YEARS ago and wanted to reread it after watching Star Trek 2009.
Against the Gods - my conservative father has been begging me to read this book for about six years. He thinks that now that I've had a statistics and operations management class under my belt I might be able to read past the introduction. Apparently it's about the mathematical history of risk management.
Sex, Time, and Power - got me hooked in the bookstore with the introduction discussing the 15% higher iron levels in men vs women, how maternal anemia during pregnancy contributes to offspring retardation.

What I'd Read If I Could Get My Hands On It At The Library
The King's Damosel - the movie Quest for Camelot is based on this book - very roughly. The book sounds grim enough that I'm not going to go order it willy-nilly. But the local libraries don't have it. (Maybe I should check the UMSL library?)
