raise your glasses please, into a toast

I don't know why I am so incredibly pleased about this but I am:

I live 2 doors down from a small, family-owned market. They are sometimes a little sketchy with their produce (i.e. sometimes selling things that are far beyond being worth money, basically I would prefer to be taking these items out of their dumpster) but in general I like having them there as an alternative to the larger chain store across the street. Plus they often make really nice small talk and ask me about my life and remember friendly details about me for the next time we make chit chat at the checkout. This little grocery carries lots of great items that I look for: good pumpernickel bread, organic options, wheat alternatives, quinoa, organic & free run eggs, soy products, etc. One thing that they do not carry, and that I therefore often must walk further than I'd like to in the freezing cold in order to obtain (and it's often an errand just for this one item), is earth balance margarine (quite tasty and buttery vegan margarine). So I spoke to one of the workers (I assume he also owns a part of the business) about it at the checkout one day. And, lo and behold, when I went shopping today it was there! I turned to the shop keeper and exclaimed "You got it!" and he replied "Oh yes, pretty much just for you".

!!!

Wonderful! I love these fellows! It's so fulfilling to feel relevant to the businesses that are your neighbors! Now, if I can just get them to stock nutritional yeast then I am set!

Okay, I'm done talking about my groceries now (gawd, I am so feeling like Pablo Strauss, this zinester that I adore who always writes about grocery shopping). I'm going to make myself some supper. Maybe I'll even use some margarine in the process.
