A shot across the bow

Both sets of parents were in town over the weekend, so Eliazbeth & I were more than just a little busy, but it was a good busy. We also got to see Elizabeth's cousin Ayisha (sp?), who will graduate from the Naval Academy in a few months & meet 2 of her friends.

Unfortunately, we also lost a very good friend. Jaelle was one of the first people who welcomed us to Storvik. She let Elizabeth stay at her place while Elizabeth was hunting for apartments & landing her first job here. Jaelle helped me with my job search after I left Catholic U.. She was a scholar, a herald, & someone who led you to do things you thought you couldn't do. Elizabeth said it best to me on Friday night: We-all of her friends-are her legacy.

However, it was also the beginning of sequestration. I got tired of the comments that it's just a manufactured crisis a couple of weeks ago. Trucks are manufactured, too, but that doesn't mean that if one hits you, you'll go unscathed. My boss got the first warning letter that NASA might have to do something to our contract, nothing specific. Sheesh. Anyone with a 98.7 body temperature who's been in the DC area for the last financial quarter could've figured that out.
