[Falcon is gone. He is no longer here. Well, sort of. He kind of had an unfortunate run in with Skull Kid on Saturday morning and is teen_flacon this week. Exciting fun!

There is a note posted on his door. )

Okay this is a real meeting let's say that it's Max on the way to the weightroom on Saturday tank_rockarms September 13 2009, 01:37:47 UTC
Max had a duffle bag (white canvas with a giant orange star on the sides) in one hand and a sweatband in his hair like he fell out of 1987 and instead of cargo pants he was already wearing shorts -- he was wearing a, somehow, loose-ish tank top. It at least was loose enough that it wasn't showing off his 36 abdominal muscles. He was whistling something as he went off to his afternoon workout -- it was Saturday, so he had no afternoon classes, and could break up his workout into three parts instead of cramming it all into just two! How exciting for him.

He did wish, of course, that he had somebody to spot him. He was a little lonely - he had nobody to lift with regularly since Blastoise left. He'd probably have to get Knuckles to do it from now on. While Knuckles stood on a box or something so he'd be tall enough to spot Max.

Incidentally, Falcon was on his way back from the weight room, having made an emergency run there to drop off the play book after finding Max's very frantic note. So what a happy coincidence it was that the two would pass each other going to and coming from the same room!

By this point, the Captain was pretty much on a roll with the fooling people thing maybe. Needless to say, he was getting a bit cocky.

Still, he'd kind of made a point of avoiding conversation if he could, just in case, so he gave Max a nod as he passed.

Max waved and then thought he knew the kid, then shook his head no, that he didn't know him at all.

And then in a corner of his brain he thought a tiny thought. Synapses fired, and Max put two and two together.

"Hey," he called out, "were you in the weight room?"

Falcon stopped short. He should have known this was coming. "Uh...I was just there yes."

Dropping off my play book, but you don't really need to know that. "I was just scoping it out."

Oh Falcon, this would be the end of you.

"Really? I haven't seen you before, are you new? I can show you around if you want, I'm goin' to the weightroom myself. A lot of the machines I helped make, well my friend Andy made them but I put stuff together, a lot of them are pretty funny lookin' I know so you gotta have somebody show you how to use 'em so you probably didn't know what they were, right? Yeah?" Max was, was Max being bubbly? I think this counted as bubbly, as he was talking about his favorite activity.

"Oh yeah, I'm Max, I'm a CO in the Orange Star Army, and I'm the football captain this year, and I'm sorta in charge of the weight room, too." In that he is always there and in theory probably owns all of the equipment, it's at least somewhat appropriate. He stuck his hand out for a handshake. The one that wasn't holding onto the bag.

Falcon hesitated for a moment, wondering if his first-choice alias was wise to use, given Max's fellow CO. Then again, it was Max. He hadn't even had to try to fool him.

"Andy Summer." He said, taking the extended hand and shaking it. "I'm visiting for the week. I might transfer here."

It was difficult to not be off-put by Max's apparent bubbliness, and Falcon had a sinking feeling he knew what was coming next...and that there was no escape.

At this point, it is pertinent to note that "Andy" was definitely what Max would call a project.

"Hey your name's Andy, too, that's neat," said Max. "Easier to remember. So you're new here? Thinkin' about comin' here for classes? It's an okay place, sorta crazy sometimes but okay most of the time. You think about playin' football? We could use more guys on the team -- you're. . . tall. Hey were you goin' to the weight room to try and beef up some? I can help you with that, I'm real good at it," and he gestured to his left bicep and then his chest and then back and forth between the two for a bit with his free hand, just in case the new guy didn't get it.

"Come on, I'll show you how to use the ab-abber 3000, Andy made it. Well not you, my friend Andy." He put his hand on Andy's shoulder (not CO Andy, the Andy that's currently in this narrative).

Oh God. It was so hard to keep track of anything Max was throwing at him.

"I was just going to look, actually." He said, still maybe trying to futilely escape two hours of lifting. Falcon was going to be honest--he hadn't played football in high school. "I run track, actually."

But it appeared he didn't have a choice in the matter. He was being drafted onto his own football team and they were heading towards the weight room before he even knew what was happening.

"Track," said Max, "is in the spring. Football is in the fall. You can play both!" Max gave Falcon what my sisters would call 'elevator eyes.' "You're at the point where you can start puttin' on muscle, come on," he said, hand still firmly on Andy's shoulder, and firmly walking down the hall with him to that magical shrine to manliness - the weight room that Max had put together out of parts of old tanks.

He led Andy to a machine of a curious construction, with dials and such on the sides, and a seat to sit in. It was the Ab-Abber 3000. "Sit down," said Max. "I'll get it set up for you."

Before Falcon knew what was happening, he was seated on the Ab-Abber 3000 and apparently about to get the workout of his life.

Which, ordinarily, he could have handled, but at seventeen he didn't have nearly as much muscle--he hadn't needed it. To top it all off, he had to play the part of not knowing how to use this equipment at all.

"But I'm only here for a week. You really want to put me on the team?"

"Well you said you were thinkin' about comin' here right? So if you do come here then you should know what sport team you wanna be on and soccer, no offense, is for girls who don't know how to do anything and track isn't in the fall so you'll have to play football."

Max's logic was ironclad.

"Okay I'm gonna set it to 30% resistance, it's based offa how much you weigh so you can probably do this much," said Max as he spun the dial and pushed a button and had no idea how much non-muscular people could do on the Ab Abber 3000 who weren't Bulba (who had recently worked up to 10%) but this guy was clearly bigger than Bulba so he could clearly do way more.

Max's logic was ironclad, backwards as it was. Falcon guessed he could humor him for the moment and play on his own football team.

Thirty percent? Thirty percent? Falcon almost protested and asked for more before he realized that he was, at this point in his life, kind of tall and lanky as opposed to tall and huge.

"Liiike this?" He said, starting a rep and clearly knowing how to use the machine.

"Yeah, like that," said Max, sort of almost a little confused because he didn't tell him how to start yet, and he was under the impression he didn't know how to use the machines yet. "You're a quick study, I guess," he said.

"Now do 20 more," he kindly ordered.

"It's not so hard." He said, pushing himself through the reps.

"Twenty more of these or twenty more sets?"

"Twenty of these, three sets of varying intensity. You must work out some, you know the terms," said Max, still being confused.

"So why are you such a twig?" Max continued.

"Sure thing." Falcon said, continuing to pump his way through, unfortunately finding it a bit more exhausting than he was used to. Just what he needed. The CO emasculating him even more.

Max, anyone was a twig compared to you. "I grew a lot these past few years. You know how that is."
