i can't drive..........25!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So this is my goal.  I owe you all an update on how things have been going with me.  The last time i did that, it was almost a month ago and I was prepping myself to go to NYC and visit the FCI.

Now, its post NYC, post FCI, post most amazing trip i've been on in a while.
I could really go back and tell you about everything that transpired before, during, and after the NYC mini break...but lets be real here folks.  Its been so long since i've written here legitimately that I can't remember everything  AND there's somethings that are pretty self explanatory.
I will tell you this:  the FCI was everything I expected it to be and then some.  Everyone, from the students to the faculty, to the admissions and financial aid staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful with whatever I might have needed.  I probably have stated this before, but walking into the facilities was like walking onto the BG campus for the first time.  It felt right...like I was where I was supposed to be.
It was kind of eerie when I was flying into LaGuardia on April 11th.  Then, I was still working my way through Jacques Pepin's autobiography 'The Apprentice: My Life in the Kitchen.' I had just turned the page to the chapter where he starts talking about teaching.  And as you might not know, he was one of the people who helped Dorothy Cann Hamilton start the FCI.  And right before that part of the book started, the overhead speaker chimed and the pilot said 'Welcome to New York LaGuardia...' etc etc...talk about a strange coincidence...as I'm reading about the beginnings of the school I'm going to NYC to tour, we're landing...maybe the planets were aligned right?
Make sure to check out my adventures in NYC eating at Ms Jones Kitchen

Other highlights of my NYC trip.
1) Staying with Anna!!!  Holy crap lois.  I missed her so much!!!  It was refreshing to go out there and stay with someone who's in the same frame of mind about 90% of everything you can possibly imagine!  Life, work, school crap, NUTRITION!!!  we share a brain..which will come in handy when we share an apartment!  I'm so lucky to have such great friends surrounding me.  In Eastlake, in NYC, in Toledo, and a few other states (you know where you are).  Now i'm choked up.
2) Seeing Kyle!  awwwwwwwwwwwww kylie has a beard!!!!  xoxoxoxoxox
3) Grindhouse - fucking machine gun leg.  that's all i gotta say
4) Spin Class
5) Jon Stewart
6) Window Shopping
7) Alain Sailhac...yeah, FCI Dean Emeritus and world class chef,  talking to me about how much butter they used at the FCI during my class audit.

there's a ton more random things that happened while we were there, but to save everyone time, just know that it was EXACTLY the trip i wanted to have.

So after my flight had landed back in Cleveland, my pops picked me up and we chatted about the school on the way to the American Legion Hall for Monica's baby shower.  She was absolutely GLOWING!!!!! I can't wait for Christopher Lee to get here!!  babies everywhere.  Spent that night with my folks talking about school and stuff...and then with the Biermans. Left Eastlake the next day after baking bread for Moom...then that night, went to see PTW.

The next day, Tuesday the 17th...I finalized my application to the FCI and got it turned in by 3pm.  I got a phone call from Kaite, assitant director of Admissions for the Pastry Program about 5:30 saying I was accepted.  Didn't really expect that quick of an app turnaround...but SO glad to get that phone call.
Over the past few weeks, I've gotten enrollement paperwork turned in, medical tests taken, loan applications and approvals..and now Anna is working overtime to find us a fantastic place to live.  Throw Kyle into the roomate mix too :)
Last week, I turned in my official letter of resignation at Cumulus.  My last day of work will be June 29th.  And they've already posted my job opening on All Access. le sigh.  More about my feelings about leaving soon.
This update isn't going as planned, haha.  There's so much more I'd like to write...but i am running short on time yo.

Outside of FCI stuff, I've made a Baby Shower cake, gone to more shows...hung out with Meinhold and Kyle, spent a crapton of money at a Pampered Chef party, worked ALOT, talked to anna ALOT,  attended a Body Shoppe party and won my own!!, and most recently, seen STOMP at the Stranahan.

whew.
With only 20 min left of my shift...lets wrap it up yo.  I'm sorry this update is totally lackluster...

Today is my birthday.  As of 1:13pm, i'm 25 years old.  I don't feel any older...but I do feel like I'm in the best position for success that I've ever been in.  I have a dauntingly exciting year in front of me...and by this time next year, I'll be just about ready to graduate from the FCI.
I have people in my life that are a constant source of support, love, and strength and count my blessing every day for them.
Never before have I felt this good about what's to come.  25 rules.

how am i celebrating?  2:30...tattoo appointment.  then dinner with the robers.  tomorrow i get to see Mastadon AND cursive AND Against Me.

There's been a crapton running through my brain lately...things that I'll eventually get to write down here.  Once I get the time. Like...would it be out of line for me to ask for a second chance?   But again, know that everything is beautiful.  And I think, with the pieces currently in place, can only get better from here on out.

thanks for all the birthday wishes guys.  i'm warm and fuzzy inside...and its not just from the whiskey in my coffee this morning.

xx--
