I'm finally getting that notebook ready to go.

If you will remember some time back I mentioned picking up on old laptop for my cousin and she decided that even though it's exactly what she asked for, she didn't want it. I have instead ordered 64MB of RAM for it (for $14) and maxed it out at 96MB of RAM. I'm going to send it to my sister. She wanted something to play solitare and Majohng on, as well as do some minor web browsing.

So a PII-233 with 96MB of EDO RAM. What version of Windows should I put on it? Since it's my sister it's probably going to have to be Windows. Would 2000 push this a little to far, or should I go for NT 4.0? I'm pretty sure it will run 2000, but I'm not certain it would be very usefull when it got there.

Opinions anyone?

BTW, this thing is still in mint condition. I would say whoever the original owner was probably didn't use it much.

(BTW, not actual image, picked from a random unsuspecting host on GIS)

On another note, the old entry I mentioned I couldn't get Damn Small Linux to work on it. Just an update, I did. I had to do a warm boot after it failed to make it boot to the CD. Weird I know, but it worked every warm boot try after that. I installed it to the HDD, worked great, I was only wishing I had broadband so I could use APT to update it. I think the system needs a BIOS update for the CD issue. On another good note I found my missing extra notebook HDD, I'm taking this baby up to 4GB! w00t!

family, hardware
