Things are slowly settling down around here. My mother-in-law had her kidney removed a week ago and is healing uneventfully. The surgeon has decided to refer her to an oncologist after all, for possible radiation/chemotherapy. She's had to change her blood pressure medication, because the old medication was hard on her kidneys, and we have to really protect that remaining kidney. She'll still have to have a procedure on her heart; probably stints, but we're not sure yet. She's been non-compliant again, also, but we're not sure if that is because of lingering confusion.

Our oldest daughter has settled in at the University of Denver. In fact, this week's presidential debate will be held at DU, and she called tonight to tell us about all the Secret Service agents on campus and the precautions that they're taking. The interstate highway will be closed, and the whole campus will be shut down the day of the debate. The school is having a drawing to determine which students will be able to attend the debate, and R is eligible to be in the media pool also. We'll see, but it's all very exciting!

The other 2 girls have also settled back into school, studying, dance lessons, band practice, and a generally hectic life. They're happy, so that's good.

Work is the same for me - being asked to do multiple impossible things every day is stressful, but somehow we'll make it though. It's one month till the half marathon I've been training for. I need to download the course map; even though I ran it last year, the course is very challenging, and I tend to do better if I'm more familiar with the course ahead of time. I'm still dieting, as well. I've lost 17 lbs since January, with the bulk of that coming off since May. I'm also still going to Zumba, which is great for stress relief!

We're still also in the middle of outage, as well as taking a financial class at church. Weekends are way too short, and workdays are way too long!
