For Thaddeus, Halloween Night was always the best time of year. He was able to go out to the clubs without people giving his naturally furry skin a second glance. And with the popularity of that movie series "Dusk" it made it that much easier to score with the ladies.
Because that's what Halloween was truly about: the young, nubile college aged girls wearing skimpy outfits grinding against each other, and him, while drinking and blowing bubbles. What was even better, he had Lillian Devereaux under his thumb. She put out for him whenever he wanted and never asked questions when he found himself in someone else's bed. Rumors of her awfulness were greatly exaggerated; she was quite docile and was putty in his hands. He let her believe that they were 'partners,' but really, truly, he knew he was the dominant one of the 'couple.'
Life was good for Thaddeus. Zane was out of his hair, what with his wallowing in self-pity and all. Nobody bothered him. And, as he was reveling in that fact, at that very moment, Fate (who was normally such a bitch) granted him a wonderful favor: He saw Erin Devereaux, that little red-headed bitch who had clocked him in his crotch when she was a little girl, walk past him on her way to the bathroom.
Thaddeus grinned. Oh yes, Fate was being very kind to him this evening. He had almost forgotten about the incident with the girl. Almost. But seeing her again brought the memory of the pain back and now he was determined to get even with her. He irritably batted away the large pair of very well made black angel wings and practically tripped over a pair of riding boots, which were attached to a long pair of legs encased in breeches. "Move it, assholes" Thaddeus growled as he shoved past them, determined not to lose sight of the red-headed coed.
Unfortunately, she had made it into the bathroom before Thaddeus could stop her. He stood in the shadows and kept his eye on the door and cheerfully tapped his foot and nodded his head to the pounding techno music. The entire club was loud, so nobody would hear the emergency fire exit go off when he took the girl through there and into the alley. As he glanced at the fire door, he smiled. Fate was even more kind to him that he had thought. The alarm wasn't plugged in. Even better.
Finally the girl stepped out of the bathroom. As she was smoothing the front of her "slutty nurse" costume, he grabbed her arm with one and hand covered her mouth with the other. "I have a bone to pick with you, little girl," Thaddeus growled in her ear. He saw the girl's eyes widen and he could tell she recognized exactly who he was. She remembered. She tried to pull her arm away and when she couldn't escape, he felt her teeth bite down on his hand. "There will be none of that," he said in her ear as he pulled her out the door.
As the metal door shut behind them, he pushed the girl against the brick wall and held her there by her throat. "Didn't I tell you that it would be dangerous to go outside? Didn't I say that you should be scared? Now, what should I do with you, hm?" he asked with a dark chuckle.
A glint of determination appeared in the girl's dark brown eyes. "My friends are inside. They're going to miss me," she said in a strangled voice.
"I'm not scared of your friends," Thaddeus said with a laugh. "They can't do anything to me."
"But you should be scared of us," a new voice said at the entry of the alleyway. Thaddeus looked over and saw three figures standing there.
"Hellooooooo, Nurse!" another voice said.
"This doesn't concern you," Thaddeus said to them, slightly releasing his grip on the girl. He could make out a pair of outstretched wings; the same wings he had seen inside the club. "This is between me and her. So unless you want to have angel wings for real, I suggest you move along."
"Is..is he actually threatening me, Max?" the first voice asked, turning to a very tall man wearing a Regency-ish sort of costume; the man with the tall riding boots.
"I do believe a threat was intended," the third man drawled in an accented voice.
Thaddeus looked back at the girl in time to see her smirk. Before he could register what that meant, he felt her knee make contact with his groin. His hands fell from her throat as he clutched himself. Pain exploded through him and his breath escaped his lungs in a gasp. He didn't have time to move out of the way when her left foot made contact him him again, in the same exact spot that she had hit him before.
He fell to his knees and then his full body hit the ground. As he curled up into a ball, the girl stood over him and said, "Just who the fuck do you think you are anyway, huh?" She kicked his shin before stepping over him. He saw her straighten her dress and the nurse cap on her head. "Thanks," she said to the three men.
"Don't mention it," the guy with the black angel costume said to her.
"Perhaps you should join your friends inside," the Regency dressed man added. The girl nodded and smiled at them before exiting the alley.
"Goodbyyyyee, Nurse!" the topless man who almost sounded like a cartoon said as he waved to Erin's retreating form.
The three men advanced towards Thaddeus. "You see, Yakko, this is the reason why you should always spay and neuter your pets."
"Ohhhhhhh."
Through his pain, Thaddeus began to laugh, though it came out in strangled gasps. "You can't do anything to me. I'll take care of you and then I'll go and settle the score I have with her."
"You're right," the angel said, "we can't do anything to you. But I can." With those words, the man stepped into the light and knelt down next to Thaddeus. When the man's eyes flashed black, Thaddeus felt his stomach drop as he recognized the man's features to be that of a Reaper Child.
"Not...not a costume," the Pet Reaper stated.
The Reaper Child grinned. "Nope. Not a costume. Not. Even. Close..."
