I RECOLORED MY VERY FIRST OBJECT EVER!

Seriously, other than a couple of outfits, I've never done ANYTHING as daring as recoloring an item because, like, it involved big bad scary SimPE and stuff!

But I REALLY needed to recolor this item because I was going to be good god damned if I was going to Photoshop my cover page as much as it looked like I ( Read more... )

Ang, that looks awesome! Is that the album that comes with BV, or a piece of CC? Isn't figuring out simPE so satisfying? (Not that I'm an expert or anything, but I did just figure out how to fix victims of broken face templates).

And hurray for knowing what comes next! Inspiration (almost) hitting is great. :D

It's a CC item from Black Pearl Sims, a vintage photo album that had real pictures in it instead of Simlish pictures. Nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't fit with the look of my game.

I've always sort of used SimPE for checking genetics (and setting recessives when rebuilding) and of course for extraction, but I've never even messed with broken template faces. Is that where you use Sim Surgery and clone a face with someone else? Either way, yes, it's very satisfying (though I was pretty convinced that I was going to blow up my game by recoloring this item).

Yay for almost inspiration!

Yes, it is cloning and Sim Surgery-ing. I married a someone in with a broken face template, and then freaked out when he went face 1 on elderfying. I haven't figure out how to fix his kid's genetics yet, but I'll get there.

I have yet to figure out SimPE for genetics and recessives (this is where I am convinced I'm going to blow up my game). I'll fix skills and personalities, but that's about it.

Was the kid born after you fixed his dad's genetics? Or before? If it was after then you should be all good. If before, then you'll have to do the Sim Surgery like you did with that dad and then he should be fine. I had to do the same thing with Vaughn Fitzhugh because his nose was wrong. So I have a Vaughn Clone (seriously, that's his name, he looks like a hobo) running around town. But, as you can see by his kids, his genetics were fine ( ... )

Yaaaaaaaay - I'd be well proud of that (if I knew how to do it)!

Maybe it's just me, but she seems too happy and popular, which (again, to me) means one of two things:
a) it's all going to come tumbling down somehow
b) her popularity is making someone else miserable
Given that her friends there are mostly family members, I'm guessing it won't be a. Given that Quinn isn't in a single one of those pictures...! *huggles Quinn* But then maybe Quinn's busy with that mission that 'nice old lady' gave him... D:
Regardless, give Quinn a hug for me.
And now I will stop trying to guess your plot >.>

Well done on the album! ^_^

I shall not say a thing. NOT A THING!

Well, except "Thanks," because it's totally flattering to have someone guess my plot lines :D

Edit to add: BTW, I *did* actually take a picture of Erin and Quinn and I mean to place it on one of her wall photos :D

Awww! And lol, Erin reminds me of my sister - a million different photos and the smile on her face is always /exactly/ the same. I guess sims can't help it though :P
Okay, well, while we're guessing plotlines: that first picture looks to be shot in Veronaville. I wonder who Erin might meet there?! :D

No, no, the smile *is* exactly the same. It's the "Agree-You're so Right!" animation on the talk hack, I think. It's this big, happy smile that looks rather natural, especially in situations where the other smiles are forced (The Homecoming picture with Matthew Grunt and Meadow Thayer's cheesy smile in the cheerleading picture). Basically, Erin likes smiling for the camera. She's one of *those* girls. You know the one: Popularity and friends comes naturally to those types of people. They're genuinely nice and people like them. She's THAT girl. I can babble about that because that's not a plot point :D

In other words, she has the tendency to be a ham for the camera. Look at who her parents are. ESPECIALLY look at her father...

As for Veronaville: Yep, yep :) I've already shown her there once in the cha[ter before last, but it was only one picture. Who she's meeting isn't a secret...but well, the rest of it is.

I HAVE SAID TOO MUCH!

The album and picture came out awesome! The cover says so much about the chapter and is a great teaser. Glad you're almost inspired. Can't wait to read it.

I'm still of the school who is afraid to try to recolor objects in SimPE. I tried one, but it didn't come out how I wanted and I'm not sure what I did wrong. Someday, when I have time, I'll go back and try again.

Thanks!

This recolor looked fairly easy as there were clear cut pictures that I just wanted to replace. I don't know if I'll really feel the need to recolor anything other than that.

Of course, I DO want to recolor some pictures, especially ones using the Dusk posters. You know, in case people want to download them, lol.

That's awesome Ang. I love it. Also, once you get the creating bug and realise how easy it is, you just end up making more and more. :D

Thanks :) Well, I'm already working on another recolor of this and making an album for Rhys and Eden and one for Zane and Tina. Plus, like I said to Annie above, I want to make some downloadable Dusk posters...

But first, filming next chapter. *nods*

Oh wow, that is brilliant! I'd have literally NO idea how to do that... Once again your visual abilities put my own to shame.
*Goes off to cry in the corner like the failure that she is*

It must be very tempting to make versions for all your sims/families! Such a cute little object to have.

So loving the look of the next chapter by the way. Even if it does only exist within a teaser picture right now, it still looks amazing. :)

*blush* Thank you! TBH, I had my hand held by the tutorial and the texture thing was really easy because it just had distinct pictures that I could cut out and replace. I have no idea what it's like for other items that might not be so clear cut.

I know I'm totally making one for Rhys and Eden and one for Zane and Tina :D

I *really* hope people like the next chapter. I'm going to be worried over the next few.

Aaw, Zane and Tina... I'm actually quite a fan of those two now! Probably because, as you said on boolprop, they've both grown up so much now.

And as for your next few chapters, what's there to be worried about? If you're killing off characters, changing style or trying something new, we'll still be reading and enjoying. I've never read a chapter of yours that I didn't like, and I can't see that changing now!
