Is it just me?

So I was tooling around in CAS the other day because I'm making a personal reference guide of all my pose boxes so it won't be so tedious going through all of them when I want a specific pose. Anyway, because I would rather look at my own characters than a random CAS sim, I pulled up my extracted versions of Zane and Tina. Well, Tina is bald in my saved Sims folder, so when I pulled the paper doll up, she got assigned a random hair. I started laughing because it made her look so different.

It got me wondering about that. Essentially it seems that we identify a story character by their hair and maybe their clothes, but mostly by their hair. Can you imagine Rhys without his fauxhawk? Or how about Cecil without his...well...Cecil (formerly Spencer) hair? So I started pulling up some of my Legacy Sims and giving them different hairstyles just to see how weird they would look. I took some pictures, so I thought I would share them with you :) (I'm going to assume that anybody who is reading this post reads my legacy and knows what my characters look like, so I'm not going to post how they actually look because...well, because I'm lazy.)

Here is Ansley, my second generation heiress. Because Ansley was one of those people who needed to have every hair in place, these messy braids seems so out of character for her.

Here is Savannah, second generation spare. She and her husband Merlin have the Lewis line. It's kind of the sameish style, but her original hair was a lot shorter. Or maybe that's because her eyes are that creepy green color because I forgot to put on the Lyran contacts when I took this picture (and my new replacement defaults haven't made it over to the AGS game that I was shooting this in).

"I was brooding and depressed long before he was born!" Says Sebastian as he sports Zane's hairstyle. Maybe he looks different because I didn't give him his regular glasses? I dunno. Sebastian wouldn't be Sebastian if it weren't for his Spencer hairstyle.

Here is Xander. Or Merlin. Whichever (that template plagued the Lewis family for three generations. Aviendha is just the female version of the template). I can't imagine Xander without his surfer boy hairstyle, or Merlin without that messy Dean Whedonberry style (I have a tendency to associate certain hairstyles with other Legacy Sims. So again, maybe this is all just me).

Lillian's hair is still long here, but pulled back. And she's smiling, which is a rarity. Actually, I did give Lillian a new makeover, but seeing as she's banished until Eden's unborn children are older, I'm holding off on showing it. She's one of those sims who insists on screen time though, so she steals newspapers, waltzes into the family house and naked hot tubs for hours, and lives on the family owned community lots. LOL, I love Lillian. I am also rather distressed by the fact that there seems to be no facial blending. All of the kids have been clones of one of their parents (until Laurana and really only Laurana). So, because Josh was Face One and Kelly was Face Two, a lot of my sims look alike. I need the hairstyles to tell them apart, I guess.

Mary is another character who needs to look perfect at all times, so without the perfectly placed curly tendrils that her regular style has (I call it the Sophia Goodytwoshoes hair), this just looks messy. Mary would not think this is a Perky, Pretty, Perfect hairstyle.

Miles with dreads. Ugh. No thank you. *tsk* He looks exactly like Sebastian except for the skintone and eyes.

How about Amelia sporting the Miranda Legacina hairstyle? Of coure, her normal hairstyle of pigtails will have to go when she hits elder, otherwise she'll look silly.

Aviendha was not a necessarily sloppy sim, but her regular Julia Caesar hairstyle suited her much better; it's far more casual than this 1960's Hollywood actress style. This looks too perfectly coiffed for my more tomboyish character. Actually, Eden might be using this style a lot when she gets older.

Ashley looks good no matter what hair he has, but I think he rocks his normal hair so much more.

I don't know why, but Zane seems almost unrecognizable to me without the curly hair over his forehead. This "News Anchor" hairstyle is not in the least bit flattering and it makes him look like he has a five or sixhead. Of course, it might also be the snazzy orange shirt he's wearing in this picture.

There are a lot of different factors that make Tina look different here: She doesn't have her regular eyebrows, nor is she wearing makeup. BUT, this hair makes her look so...bleh. Of course, the kiddish style she normally has, along with the (intentional) "I don't know how to wear makeup" makeup makes her look worse. Upon further consideration, she wouldn't be too bad if she got a makeover. But then again, it wouldn't be Tina.

"Hey man. Whay are you harshing my buzz?" Keith actually used to have hair like this in real life. Before I met him, thank Jeebus, otherwise I probably would never have given him a second glance. I much prefer clean cut. His facial hair in the game doesn't really look like the hair he has in real life, but I can't find a good, trimmed English beard for download, so this is as close as I could get.. For anyone who wants to know, Keith IS wearing pants in this picture.

This picture makes me wonder why I even have this download. I don't like anime, and I don't use the style, nor do I ever intend to. I've had long hair, but never this long, nor this much. But the "I'm just being patient with you" look my SimSelf has on her face made me giggle.

So, that's it. I didn't include any of Generation Five because they haven't been on screen long enough to have a distinctive hairstyle. Besides, Eden's will keep changing anyway *shrug* I hope you got a little bit of a chuckle out of this :)
