Recipe Review: Tuna Salad in Romaine Burritos

May 27, 2008 12:19

Dish: Tuna Salad in Romaine Burritos

Tuna Salad however you prepare it + 4 or 5 Leaves of Romaine lettuce

My Tuna Salad today consisted of: canned tuna in water (don't get it in oil - it's very icky!) + a gob of mayonnaise + a gob of miracle whip + a gob of sweet pickle relish + a gob of horseradish + fresh cracked black pepper. Stir well.

Apply tuna liberally to romaine leaves. Fold leaves as best possible. Consume.

Other optional ingredients for the tuna salad are: red onions, onions, garlic, peas, hard boiled eggs, red pepper flakes, or really anything else you like.

Meal: Lunch

Modified how:
This was my recipe so I created it. No modification necessary.

Good things about this recipe:
It's not loaded in carbs so if you care about that sorta thing it's a good recipe for you. It's also a good way to get some protein and some veggies without having to eat a SALAD. It was pretty quick too since I washed the lettuce right before eating it at lunch today instead of this morning.

Make again: Yes

With modifications: Yes, making the tuna salad ahead of time always makes it better. Throwing it together in the morning is alright, but when you have a few extra ingredients sitting around it gives it a whole new depth of flavor.
