Pop-up happiness

Last month I worked at the NB library bookstore. They had a totally cool popup book in excellent conditon. Can't remember the title but it was by Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart.  It had 5 popups on every page!! One major popup in the middle of the book as you open the page and FOUR popups in each corner. Serious popup goodness and I totally fell in love with it!!  They were so well done. Big, bold, colorful, intricate, eye-catching.  And the book was in such good condition.

But...

I'm in "get-rid-of-stuff" mode and totally trying not to buy books. I mean, I donated at least 10 boxes of books to various library bookstores this month, so I'm really really trying to get rid of books, not buy them. I was strong. I resisted.

So a lady came in looking for kidz books so I showed her the cool book and she was all over it. It would make the perfect present for a kid she knew. She bought it and I immediately (of course) was sorry I hadn't bought it.  Completely sorry.  Went home and checked Amazon and it turns out these guys had done loads of cool books!! I put one on my Amazon wishlist, to remind myself to buy one as soon as I get rid of all my superfluous books (i.e. the ones I really really don't think I will get a chance to read before I die).

Well, when I went to work again in the bookstore Monday, what should I find as I was stocking the shelves?? TWO, yes, TWO Sabuda/Reinhart popups. Oh, my. And they were only $3. I couldn't snag them fast enough. They were in good condition (only a couple of mildly malfunctioning popups.) So I'm happy, happy, happy. I tell lie to myself that if I decide I don't need them, I can give them to Caleb, Sam, and Simon.  Hahaha. But of course, they're mere kids and can't appreciate them properly so I'm sure i will just have to keep them.

These are the books I got.

Sadly, as I was checking out Amazon, I noticed other got-to-have-em popups.

There are horrible horrible people on the net who take pictures of their popup books and post them on Amazon.  Making me want the books even more.  An evil evil person named Robin Benson has done this with a couple (must find out all the stuff he buys).   So I must get this book:
