And what about American cuisine? Have you grown to love it yet? :) My favorite food is probably Mexican, but it doesn't seem so popular with Russians. I don't remember seeing any Mexican restaurants there, but they probably exist.

I like steak with mashed potato and coleslaw, oysters and crab legs and a lot of food else. Our favorite restaurant in this area is Pampas - brazilian food and Korean BBQ Palace :)

Do you have Outback Steakhouse in your area? They have great steaks and sides for a very reasonable price. I also like BBQ. In Memphis, there were many people smoking the meats on the street. Smelled divine. You look like a wonderful cook based on all the photos in your posts. :)

Russia is a claustrophobic and perversely xenophobic country. So the international cuisine come to their market with difficulties.

They seem to love Japanese food and sushi. These restaurants are everywhere in Russia, just like you can find Chinese restaurants in all American neighborhoods.

I will not dare to touch sushi or steak tartar in Russia. I value my life above this kind of pleasure.

I had a friend who used to visit Russia the USSR. Each time before taking a bite he would think: Will I die immediately or after much suffering later?

Culinary cuisine is not so dire there, trust me! How long has it been since you visited?

I do not even remember when.

Well it's time for me to go practice my Russian - I downloaded the new film noir "It's Difficult to Be a God" about the future Galactic Communist Secret Police controlling the development of stellar civilizations.

To my disappointment, one thing that one never can find in America is Frankfurters. As different from Wieners.
I miss the Franks so much! Right today I almost wept :(

Like German or Polish sausages, is that what you mean? In America, hot dogs are horrible but most people love them. I strongly dislike! I don't drink Coke or eat hot dogs. One Russian friend questioned if I'm truly American based on these two facts. :))

I only ate hot dogs as many times as bought Levi's - once in my life. I like Coke. But prefer beer. Yet, if Coke is laced with rum ... No, beer is better. Actually, I grew up on beer and milk.

What is Frankfurters? It is as difficult to describe as the beauty of a woman. Gotcha! Wieners are too delicate like little girls and Franks are like mature women! Try to order them in a German speaking country. Or even in Suisse Romande.

I've eaten them in Austria and Czech Republic but this is not my favorite type of meat. I like chicken best.

There are many different kinds of chicken. Remember a fortune cookie that said "It was not chicken!" ? ;)
