Yes! This is a tragedy. Poor birds, and poor humans! I don't understand why the government destroyed this food!! I wish someone could clearly explain the logic behind this decision.

I can't understand what these people are saying in the video. :( What reasons do they give for destroying these cabbages? Just because they are grown in another country??

Well, there are many things I don't like about Putin's policies, but this doesn't prevent me from drinking Russian vodka. :)) I guess I'm not a true patriot!
It's pretty clear...xpo_xpo_xpoSeptember 28 2015, 03:01:50 UTC
Once one girl from my work told us the story: she saw a woman in a grocery who had no money to pay for some food so she left some cheese at checkout. That cheese was immediately thrown away, not placed back on the shelves. The reason was simple: nobody knows how long did this woman carry that cheese around the store so the proper storage procedure may have been violated: it's better to dispose it rather to restock.
You know if you have some undocumented food, you just can't sell it. Just try to bring your own food to your local grocery and ask them to sell it. Just give them your own food for good - and I'm sure they refuse to sell it. They don't want to be responsible for undocumented food. Each food item, especially imported one, must have some documents. Just imagine yourself at any governmental position: would you approve food with fake documents?

But it's undocumented. So you have no data on its origin etc. Just imagine, e. g., you distribute this food and there are cases of food poisoning: who is to blame? You cannot charge producers as there is no producer known. This small piece of paper makes the producer responsible for the food quality. As long as there is no small piece of paper, there is nobody responsible.
For example, in our state dairy products should be licensed. Would you allow unlicensed product to market just basing on the fact it's a product? And what the reason to ask licenses would any be able to sell dairies without such license?
