I haven’t written in here in so long and frankly I miss it. I want to get back into writing on a regular basis, but don’t know where to start, so why don’t I go over a few things since I last wrote and see where I get? This might be a long post.

My health has been okay. I haven’t had any visual migraines for several months. I might have picked up a parasite (!!!) and it made me ill for several months, but I think that has rectified itself, and I have had a sciatica outbreak, but it is easing. I am getting older (groan) and I am expecting this kind of stuff.

I have been doing a lot of travelling: In December we went to Budapest, Hungary and it was excellent indeed. I do want to go back. The post communist crumbly-ness of the city along with its older architecture in the baroque style is excellent. The museums are great and the Christmas Market is wonderful. We aren’t going back this December (we are going to Germany) but we do want to go back again. I enjoyed it very much.

A few weeks ago we spent a week in Malta, which I really enjoyed. The downside is the condition of the roads. They are worse than Greece. They are worse than Poland. They are worse than Turkey. I hated the roads and it made getting around a real drag. The highlights were early Christian Catacombs, 3000 year old temples and the Blue Grotto with water in colours of blue I have never experienced before.

We helped people from Mannheim Kindred in Virginia scatter the ashes of a friend in Sherwood Forest. His last dying wish was to have his ashes scattered there, a call went out from Kirk Thomas of ADF if anyone could help, and I volunteered. We had never really gotten to know the folks at Mannheim when I lived in the US and the two that visited were marvellous people. We really hit it off.

We were in an auto accident in March - with the members of Mannheim Kindred in the car with us! Luckily, no one was hurt, but our car was totalled. We really didn’t want to buy a car right now (we were actually hoping to buy in the next year) but we ended up with a metallic red 2013 Toyota Yaris which we love.  The savings in tax and fuel charges almost pays the monthly payment as this car gets great mileage! So, it isn’t too bad of a hit to our wallet. The car is lovely.

I am still volunteering at Harper Asprey Wildlife Centre. We had a busy spring. Right now we are looking after two crows, a jackdaw, three magpies, two blackbirds, three deer, too many hedgehogs to count, several bats of different types, a tawny owl, a little owl, and some critters I am sure I am forgetting. I have photos and I will post them later.

I did the Anti-Badger Cull March with Brian May and Bill Oddie in London last month which was excellent fun. Saw friends and had a friend from Belgium come over for the march.

I still belong to the gaming club. We have named ourselves Board to Death and we meet every week to play board games. I have made a lot of friends in this group.

I still do Steampunk events and love it. The friends I have made in the community are more awesome than I ever thought they would be and I have made some very close and very wonderful friends. Kevin and I tend to stick with these people because they are so nice.

I completed my first full sized acrylic painting in many years this year and I like it so much that I am framing and keeping it for myself. I am about to start a new one.

I am reading loads of books - I have read 54 books so far this year. Right now I am reading several:

Origins Spinward Fringe by Randolph Lalonde Genre: Space Opera
The Beauty in the Beast by Hugh Warwick - a look at people and the animals they are obsessed with.  I love this book.
Life Everlasting The Animal Way of Death by Bernard Heinrich
I don’t generally read that many books about animals at one time but it worked out that way!

Anway, that’s what’s up with me. I hope to get caught up with you and start posting again. 
