“Ugh!”
Ryo scrunched his nose.
“Please just lip synch!”

“Be nice, dwarf.”

Ueda glared at him.

They laughed again.

“Aunt Rena, we’ll go ahead.”

Pi hugged the lady.

“Thank you for coming, Tomo-kun.”
She returned the hug.
“You boys too.”

“It means a lot for Jin.”

“It’s our tradition, aunty!”

Koki smiled.

“Right!”

Junno grinned.

“Bye aunties, bye uncles!”

The boys made their way back to the car.

Hayato crouched down, afraid his uncle might see him.

“Junno?”

Ueda frowned.

“What’s up?”

Maru turned around.

“Nothing…”
Junno frowned.
“I just….”

“Junno?”

Ueda called again.

He smiled at his lover and shook his head.

“Nothing, Tat-chan.”
He turned around, looking at the tomb stone.
“Well, happy birthday, Jin.”

“That was close!”

Jay sighed in relieve.

Hayato stare blankly at the Kamenashi and Akanishi family.

“Are you okay?”

Riley nudged him.

“Yeah.”
He nodded.
“I just…”

“It’s just doesn’t make sense.”

“What?”

Jay frowned.

“If aunt Rena has another son, she never mentioned it to me.”
He replied.
“No one did.”

“Why would someone-“

“Maybe it’s just too painful.”
Riley said softly.
“Everyone deals with their problems their own way, Hayato.”

“Just…”
He sighed.
“I just thought…”

“I mean, they treat me like their own family, you know.”
He mumbled sadly.
“I feel like I missed a big part of something.”

“Bye, sweet heart.”

Rena got up and kissed the tomb stone.

“Bye aniki.”

Reio smiled and gave the stone a gentle pat.

“Bye, son.”

Hitoshi smiled.

“Jin-kun…”
Ai trailed her finger on the stone.
“Kazuya’s coming.”

“He’s just a little stuck in traffic.”
She chuckled.
“And as for Hayato…”

“Honestly speaking, I don’t know what my son is thinking, Jin-kun.”
Ai sighed.
“But…”

“I do hope, whatever happens, whatever he is thinking, Jin-kun…”
          “Please support him.”
“Happy 40th birthday, sweety.”

She got up and left with the rest after they said their byes.

“Hayato…”

Jay followed after the other.

“Dude, where are you going???”

“Yes, young man, can I help you?”

An old man smiled at the teen.

“Can I have a bouquet of… flowers, please?”

He smiled, and pointed to two of the big ones.

“Sure.”
He nodded.
“Here you go.”

“Thank you so much.”

He bowed and left after paying the old man.

Hayato stood in front of the tomb stone, and bowed.

“Hi…”
The teen trailed off.
“Ummm… I’m Hayato.”

“These… are my friends, Riley, Nick, and Jay.”
He pointed to the three standing behind them.
“Oh, and… these are for you.”

“Happy Birthday… I guess.”

He laid down the bouquet next to ones Ai and Rena put down earlier.

“Okay, let’s go?”

Nick bit his lips.

“You’re such a scaredy cat.”
Riley rolled his eyes.
“Shut up.”

“1984… same age as our dads.”

Riley said softly.

“Wait, Hayato!”
Jay pointed to the engravings.
“Doesn’t it look familiar?”

“Akanishi…”

He trailed.

“Jin.”

Hayato finished the other.

“No, I’m sure the character for Jin-“

“I heard everyone saying it, Jay.”
Hayato looked up at his best friend.
“They all say it.”

“Akanishi Jin.”
He repeated.
“This is… Akanishi Jin.”

“Uncle Hitoshi and Aunt Rena’s other son.”

“Hayato?”

Nick frowned.

“Hayato…”

“Akanishi Jin…”
The teen panted.
“So this…”

Before he knew it, he broke down and cry.

“Hayato!”

They crouched down next to him and lay a comforting hand on their friend’s shoulder.

“I…”
He sobbed.
“I don’t know…”

“I Just…”
          “I-“
“I mean-“

“It’s okay, dude.”
Jay gave his shoulder a pat.
“It’s okay.”

“Yeah…”
Riley said softly.
“I guess, if you want to, just… cry it out.”

“Yeah.”

Nick nodded slowly.

They’re not sure why their friend broke down and cry like that.
And they’ve never seen the other so sad, and heart broken.
Hayato laid his head next to the tomb stone, and cried hysterically.

The ride back to the hotel was quite.
Hayato now in the back with Riley, head leaning on the window.
He occasionally wiped the tears that trail down his face.

“Hi love.”
Kame placed the bouquet down and gave the stone a soft kiss.
“Happy 40th birthday.”

Kame sat down on the ground, and took out something from his bag.

“Look.”
He opened the lid to the container and took a piece of it out and ate it.
“Olives.”

“California’s best, love.”
                “I didn’t fly straight here.”
“Gomen ne, I wasn’t with everyone.”

“Hn, this is just like you liked it.”
                “Fresh, and crunchy.”
“Oh, and beer.”

Kame chuckled, and wiped his tears with his sleeves.

“I didn’t forget.”
                “Cheers!”
“Kanpai!”

He chugged half of the contents and bit back a choked sobs.

“Do you hate me?”

He leaned on the stone, and looked up at the sky.
Kame closed his eyes, and smiled bitterly.

“Where’s the reply, love?”
                “No, Kazu… I don’t hate you, I love you.”
“You always say that.”

“Jin…”
He sighed tiredly.
“You’re 40…”

He chuckled, and wiped his tears vigorously.

“Ewww, you’re old.”
He scrunched his nose.
“I’m dating an old man.”

Kazuya chuckled and sipped some more of the beer and popped in some more olives.
He buried his head in his arms, and he finally broke down and cry.

“I can’t…”
                “I can’t, love.”
“Not to you… and not to him.”

“I can’t do this.”
He cried.
“I still love you.”

“Sorry, love.”
Kame took a deep breath.
“This is your birthday.”

“I shouldn’t… I shouldn’t cry.”
He smiled.
“Well, I… made a cake.”

“Strawberry chocolate.”
Kame took a candle and lit it.
“Happy birthday, to you…”

“…Happy birthday… to you…”
                “Happy birthday…”
“Dear…”

Kame looked up, and blinked back his tears.

“My Jin…”
He smiled and lift the cake towards the stone.
“Happy birthday, to you…”

“Happy birthday, my love.”

A soft wind blew the small fire off, and the small almost invisible smoke flew up to the sky.
Kame took a plastic knife, and cut a small piece off the small cake.
He ate it, and smiled bitterly.

“Umaii.”
He sobbed.
“It’s good, baby.”

“The next time I visit…”
Kame said softly.
“I’ll bring Haya too.”

“I promise.”
“I’ll explain it all to him.”
“Everything.”

“Bye, love.”
He bent down and kiss the stone.
“I love you.”

Picking up his bag, Kame walked away as he tried to straighten himself up.
The sky turned gray as night comes.
He got into the cab, and told the driver to head off to the city.

“Tadaima.”

Kame called out weakly.

“Kazu-kun.”
Rena dropped everything she’s doing, and ran to him.
“Hey, sweety.”

“Ma…”

Kame wrapped his arms around her, and buried his face in her shoulder.

“Kazuya…”

Ai smiled at her son.

“Kaa-san.”

Rena gently let Ai took him to her arms, and she sat down, bringing Kazuya with her.

“It never gets easy, honey…”
Ai whispered.
“But… that’s just how it is.”

Kame clutched her shirt, and cried louder.

“Kaa-san…”
He broke the hug, and looked at her.
“Ma…”

“Hayato…”
He swallowed the lump in his throat, and took a deep breath.
“He… and… I-”

“Kazu nii-chan.”
Reio smiled.
“Okaeri.”

“Reio.”
Ai gestured the younger.
“Help your nii-chan rest.”

“Go rest a bit.”
Rena ruffled his hair.
“When you’re all freshen up, there’ll be lots of squid dishes waiting just for you.”

Kame chuckled softly, and nodded.
He got up, and went off to take a quick shower.
Reio placed his bag in his brother’s room, knowing the other would want to be there.

When they reached their room, Hayato plopped down on the sofa and sighed tiredly.

“Hey, let’s have the fillet mignon.”
Jay suggested.
“I’m starving.”

“You guys go ahead.”
Hayato gestured.
“I’ll be down there in a while.”

“No, we can have the room service-“

“I’m fine.”
He cut Riley off.
“I’ll be down soon.”

“If not, we’ll bring you back something, okay?”

Nick frowned.

“Sure.”
He nodded.
“Thanks, guys.”

He sighed tiredly and sunk himself deeper in the sofa.
He took the back pack lying across from him on the other couch.
Opening it, he poured out all the contents on the table, and scattered them around.

He piled them separately, and put the scattered papers back into the file.
He opened the file and closed his eyes.

“Damn Kanjis!”
He mumbled.
“Can’t people just write in Hiragana?”

He flipped another one, and another.
And found that only one is of that like a formal paper, and typed.
The rest, were written by hand.

Lots of scratches, and papers bent.
Some were dented, like drops of water dropped on it.
And he could tell the person who wrote it, bad at Kanjis.

He almost chuckled.

Kame opened the closet door and took one of the buttons up shirt off from the hanger.
He put it on, and curl himself up on the futon.

“Hold me, Jin…”

He whispered.

He raised his brow at the paper on his hand.
A bit of mess.
Because Kazuya would tell him when he practice his writing, if he mix Japanese and English, it’s a mess.

The paper is half in Japanese and half in English.

Obienaide look into my eyes baby
Itoshikute you make me feel like a tiger
I feel you close to me hodoke nakute
I need you by my side chigire sou na ai

Hey you are my pinky never cheat on me
Akai ito de shibatte
Do the shake of body come and call aboit it
MImimoto de sasayaite
Oh… tell me what’s your secret

……
Kuchibiru de damarasete

“Okay…”
He frowned.
“Well, this looks like a poem.”

“Shut me up with your lips?”
He tilt his head to the side.
“Something Jay would say.”

He mumbled and took another paper.

Nareai to uso no naka de bukiyou na ai seoi
Jikan ni oware iya ni natteta hi ni
Sukoshi jiyuu kanjita
Ato nannen ka sureba omoide ni naru dakara

…………

The teen sighed.

“Affairs… and lies?”
He frowned at the first line.
“Oh, between affairs and lies…”

After 5 minutes of it, he scratched his head and sighed.

“Oh, there’s a continuation!”

He flipped the paper, and read the next one.

Saki no koto dore hodo ni kangaete itemo
Hontou no koto nante dare nimo mienai

He compared to the previous paper.
And noted that this one is neater than the other.
This is the neatest out of them all in the file.

“This is so romantic… somewhat.”

He mumbled out loud.

Re reading it again, he found there’s a small note on the bottom.
