“Hm? Those foreigners?”

Her friend pointed.

“Yeah…”
She nodded.
“Well, never mind.”

“Wow, he’s hot.”
                “THEY’RE HOT!”

“Come on…  let’s go.”

The girl cast another glance at the boys, and paid special attention to Hayato.
She turned around, and walked away with her friends.

“Hayato.”

Riley waved his hand in front of his friend’s face.

“Huh?”

He blinked.

“Dude, give the lady your card so she can charge it and we go.”

Jay pointed.

“Oh…”
He chuckled.
“Sumimasen.”

The boys spent some time walking around Shibuya.
All sans Hayato were so engrossed on their shopping.
He kept on thinking, about what the girls were saying.

He doesn’t know why he even paid attention to that.

“Dude?”

Jay gave him a nudge, startling him.

“Are you okay?”

Nick frowned.

“I’m… going back to the hotel.”
He pointed.
“See you guys later.”

He turned around and walk away.

“Maybe a phone sex with Kazumi?”

Jay grinned.

“Ugh…”

Riley and Nick shook their head.

“What, she’s hot,  man.”
Jay nodded.
“If they make a porn out of it, I’ll buy em!”

Both of them groaned, and covered their ears.

Hayato took out his cellphone, and dial the number he knows so well by heart.

“Haya?”

The teen closed his eyes.

“Kazuya…”

“Hi baby.”

He could almost see the older man smiling.

“What are you doing?”

“Just got home.”
“Picked up a take out at the diner, so now…”
“I’m going to have my dinner.”

“Kazuya, it’s so late.”
He frowned.
“You’re having dinner now, at 11?”

“I had a big lunch before.”
“I wasn’t skipping meal or anything.”
“And- hey! I’m the older one; I know what I’m doing.”

He heard Kazuya chuckled, and making kissing noises.

“Go ahead and eat.”
He opened his eyes, and leaned on a nearby tree.
“And rest straight after.”

“I will call you tomorrow.”

“No, Haya…”
          “Accompany me?”
“Please…”

“How can I say no when you ask me like that, love?”

The teen shook his head.

“So, tell me what did you guys do today?”

“Hmmm… We were shopping in Shibuya and-“
Hayato heard a crashing sound on the other line.
“Kazuya???!”

“Oh… I’m fine, Haya.”
“A glass fell from its holder.”
“But, Shibuya?”

“Haya-“

“We’re in Orchard, just 15 minutes from Singapore city.”
He said quickly after his slip.
“There’s this store, selling bags, shirts, and stuffs, from Japan.”

“The store’s called Shibuya.”

“Really…”

He heard the relieved tone in his lover’s voice.

“Why?”

“Hm? Oh, no, I was just surprised, I mean… you’re not in Japan, are you?”
“I mean, if you are, I wanted to come together with you too.”

“Then, how about meet me in Tokyo later?”
He frowned.
“You said you’ll take some time off this month for a break together, right?”

“So, let’s meet in Tokyo, and visit grandma and everyone.”

He heard the older man sighed.

“Awww, baby, please don’t hate me, but I already book a ticket for us to Barcelona.”
“You told me you wanted to see the bull fight last time.”
“So, I…”

“That’s fine.”
He chuckled.
“Then, to Barcelona it is.”

“Next time, maybe we’ll go?”
          “The two of us.”
“And, we’ll venture through Tokyo, Osaka, Hokkaido…”

“And Sendai!”
          “You remember my friend Shige?”
“He showed us this beef tongue restaurant.”

“Your favorite place of all the restaurant that makes beef tongue, and uncle Junno’s from Sendai!”
“Remember the takoyaki stand that your uncle Ryo likes to bring you to in Osaka?”
“In-“

“What about Okinawa?”

He blurted out.
Then, he heard his lover gasped from the other line.

“Kazuya?”

“Oh, I dropped my fork.”

His lover chuckled.

“You go eat, Kazuya.”
He smiled.
“I promise I’ll call you in 20 minutes.”

“If, you’re not that tired.”

“I’m going in late tomorrow, so you can call me anytime, baby.”

“Great.”
The teen chuckled.
“I love you.”

“And talk to you later.”

“I love you too.”

New York City

Kame closed his eyes, and brought both his hands up to bury his face in them.
Peeking through his finger, he glanced at the plane ticket sitting on the counter.
He pushed his dinner away, and took the ticket.

JAL Flight 000
John F Kennedy, New York City - Narita Tokyo
First Class A
July 3, 20XX.

“I’m sorry, Haya…”
Kame sighed.
“I’m so sorry I’m lying again.”

He stood up, and threw the dinner in the bin.
Kame went back to his room, ticket in hand, and place it inside his bag with his passport.

Tokyo

“Aunt Rena?”

“Hey sweety.”
Rena gestured the teen to come and sit next to her.
“You left so early in the morning.”

“What’s going on?”

“Oh, well…”
He trailed.
“Jay went off, and got himself lost.”

“So, Nick and Riley called me to help them look for him.”

“And where was Jay-kun?”

Rena raised her brow.

“The idiot was just three blocks away.”

Rena chuckled.

“Are you hungry, sweet heart?”

“I had lunch at this café in Shibuya with the guys.”

He shook his head.

“Well, are you free for the rest of the day?”

Rena ruffled his hair lovingly.

“Yeah.”
The teen nodded.
“I thought of sleeping over again.”

“I can, right?”

“Sweety, you can sleep over as many times as you like.”
Rena pulled him towards her and gave his forehead a kiss.
“You can even move in here.”

“Thanks, aunty.”

Hayato smiled sheepishly.

Rena cringed inwardly at the teen.

“Aunt Rena?”
The teen frowned.
“Are you okay?”

“Ah.”
She faked a chuckle.
“How about you and I go to your grandparents’ house?”

Hayato sat still.

“Your grandma…”
Rena forced the words out of her mouth.
“Called me, and invited me out for lunch.”

“Both your uncles will be there.”
Rena continued.
“And it’d be-“

“Aunty.”

The teen cut her off.

“Hm?”

“You haven’t… tell them I’m here… have you?”

Rena frowned.

“Well, I haven’t.”
She shook her head slowly.
“I assumed they’d know since your tou-chan probably tell them himself…”

“Oh, no, honey, tell me you didn’t…”

Rena brought a hand to her lips, a bit shocked.

“Okay…”
Hayato said slowly.
“I didn’t.”

“Hayato.”
Rena said in a warning tone.
“I am serious here, sweet heart.”

“Your tou-chan does not know you’re here?”
“You’re not having any fight with your tou-chan and ran away here, right?”

“We’re supposed to be in Aussie.”
The teen sighed.
“But, Jay suggested that, instead of wasting another 10 hours of flight…”

“We might as well… just stay in Japan.”
He chuckled nervously.
“Jay hasn’t visited in 2 years, and Nick haven’t  been here, so…”

“But sweet heart, you have to tell your tou-chan on your where abouts.”

Rena sighed tiredly.

“We’re 18, aunty.”
The teen pouted.
“It’s not like we’re doing anything illegal.”

“Plus…”
He trailed softly.
“I miss home.”

“I miss everyone.”
                “You don’t visit me often.”
“So when Jay announced the plan, it’s too tempting to say no.”

He pouted.

“Oh, so now you’re blaming me, young man?”

Rena tried to sound angry, but ended up amused, and smiled at the teen.

“Yeah.”

Hayato laughed childishly.

Rena bit her bottom lip.
Seeing the sight in front of her made her want to cry.
Moments like these that she used to share with the older version of the teen.

Her son used to do lots of things.
And when he felt guilty about it, he’d come to her and act like this.

“Aunty, are you okay?”

The teen asked again.

“I am, sweety.”
She pats his cheek softly.
“Well, then… if you don’t want them to know… then they won’t.”

“Aunty, you’re the coolest!!!”

The teen squealed and hugged her.

“But I do expect you to tell your tou-chan sooner or later.”

She warned him.

“Haiii~”

The teen grinned.

“Okay, so, your uncles won’t be home in another few hours.”
Rena pointed.
“I have some of your favorite snacks, and the keys are in the drawer if you’re bored, and decided to go out.”

“Is there anything else you need before I head out, honey?”

“Hmmm, nope.”
Hayato shook his head.
“I’ll just take a nap.”

“Okay, then.”
Rena got up.
“I’ll see you at dinner, okay, sweety?”

“Later, aunty~”

Hayato smiled, and plopped down on the couch.

The sound of the door opening and closing, followed by the car out of the driveway, make the teen stood up from his comfortable position and walked towards the room again.

“Sorry uncle, aunty.”

He said as he opened the door to the room.
The teen didn’t waste time as he went straight for the closet again.
He took some of the albums, CDs, and DVDs.

“I feel like a thief…”
He sighed and closed his bag.
“I hope they don’t notice anything.”

He stopped by the table, and opened one of the drawers.
The two CDs he took before.
He reached in, and took the two and put them inside his bag along with the others.

He didn’t close the drawer back when he realized there were files in it as well.

赤西 仁

“Akanishi…”
He read the first two characters.
“Reio…”

“No… that’s not uncle Reio’s character.”
He took the file out, and frowned upon the contents.
“Damn…”

“No, none of these are uncle’s character.”

2008年  9月  27日

“This is my birthday…”
He mumbled.
“This looks like the same thing in Kazuya’s office.”

He skimmed through the characters.

“Kamenashi Kazuya… Kamenashi Kazuya…”
He repeated as his index finger scan the paper, and his eyes search for the 4 characters.
“What’s my birth certificate doing here?”

“TADAIMA~”

Hayato gasped.

“Kaa-san!!!”
Reio took off his shoes.
“Kaa-san???”

“Tou-san???”

The teen opened his bag once more, and stuffed everything inside, and hurriedly left the room.

“Hello uncle Reio!”

He waved at the man.

“Oh, Hayato.”

Reio blinked.

“Aunty left, she’ll be back during dinner time, I think.”

“Oh, is that so?”
The man nodded.
“Wuah, I’m thirsty!!!”

The teen followed his uncle towards the kitchen.

“Ah, if you’re 20, I’d offer you a beer, silly nephew.”
Reio grinned.
“But, you have to settle for cold tea.”

Hayato smiled, and nodded his thanks for the beverage.

“So, young man, if you’re not sleepy, say you and I go to rental place, and get some samurai movies?

“I know how much you like them.”
“Hey, I’ll even translate some for you.”
“The best I can, of course.”

“Ummm.”
The teen bit his lip.
“I’d love to, uncle, I was going to sleep over again, but…”

“See… Nick called, and told me, Jay caused some problem in the hotel.”
He laughed nervously.
“Jay was flirting with some girl, and her boyfriend was around, so…”

“Yikes.”
Reio winced.
“They’re not… fighting physically, are they?”

“I hope not.”
Hayato forced a smile.
“So, I’ll try to explain to the man, with my best Japanese.”

“Somehow, I’m scared you’ll make the situation worse, Hayato.”
Reio frowned.
“You want me to go with you?”

“Haha, no need.”
The teen shook his head.
“If it does go down badly, I will call you.”

“Well, okay.”
Reio sighed tiredly.
“Go then.”

“Am I going to see you tomorrow?”

“Uhh, maybe not.”
The teen pouted.
“Oh, do you want to join me and the guys on Thursday?”

“Well, since we’re in Japan, and obviously Japan doesn’t have July 4th celebration, we’re going to one of Jay’s relatives’ house, and have BBQ there.”
                “It’d be fun, uncle.”
“Just BBQ, and all.”

“July 4th, huh…”

Reio trailed.

“Yeah.”
Hayato nodded.
“America’s independence day.”

“I see.”
Reio said quietly.
“America’s independence day…”

“Sorry, nephew, but I’m busy on that time.”
He forced a smile.
“Maybe the day after?”

“Great.”
Hayato smiled.
“You go rest, uncle, you look tired.”

“Ah… yeah.”
Reio rubbed his neck.
“What’s in the bag, Hayato?”

“Oh…”
The teen gulped.
“Souvenirs.”

“Hehh…”
Reio nodded.
“Well, you can take the spare keys.”

“See you, nephew.”

“Bye uncle~”

He watched as Reio walked out of the kitchen, and sighed in relieved.

“That was fucking close~”

“Hey Aniki…”
Reio greeted the picture after he said his prayer.
“Can you tell me why Kazu nii-chan hasn’t tell him yet?”

“The brat told me to join him with his friends’ BBQ on July 4th.”
He scoffed.
“The kid’s not even American, aniki.”

“Kaa-chan and tou-chan are hurting, you know.”
He sighed.
“He calls them aunt and uncle, and frowned when dad accidentally told him to call him grandpa.”

“Well…”
“Looks like your son won’t be paying a visit either this year on your birthday.”
“It scares me sometimes you know.”

Reio shook his head.

“Only kaa-chan knows the difference.”
“Me and tou-chan thinks of him as you most of the time.”
“Does that make me a bad uncle?”

Reio chuckled.

“How can he not remember what July 4th is?”
Reio scowled.
“He used to visit you, he wasn’t even THAT young…”

The man sighed again, and sat silently, looking at the picture of his older brother.
After saying another prayer, he stood up, and exit the room.

“Kazu nii-chan… I hope you know what you’re doing…”
