I've really had a pretty blah start to the week, this week. But hay, I got some awesome dragons in the post this morning, 5D's Dragon's figures to be exact

I don't like RP!S much either, to be honest. It's a pile of drama all over, and the way the mods beg for secrets just screams that they actively encourage people being wanked all over regularly. Even the positive secrets tend to garner negative attention, and some people feel bad because "no one makes positive secrets about me". I'm of the opinion it should just not exist, myself. Anon memes... well, good and bad can come out of anon memes, I think, but it's worth taking everything in them with a grain of salt, at least. Don't brush it off, but don't take it super personally, either, even if it's mean or disrespectful.
Reading the thread, I think anon was just comparing him to canon behaviors rather than trying to force you to stick to it strictly, judging by how they phrased certain statements. Can't speak for them, obviously, but that's how I see it. The thing with AU is that you mostly have to know the canon really well before you can make an AU work out well, with characterization and logic intact. Like, even in an AU, the character should still be recognizable. I think everyone's been guilty of making an AU that didn't quite work out, or that came out badly in some way (lord knows I have), but I think they brought up a few good points there.
I think it's not a question of who he's "harming", but in how people perceive him, especially if it's someone who just stalks the game and has no part in it, since it's easier for them to catch things that gamemates could miss, especially since technically speaking, players in the same game and fandom can be biased towards one another. Not necessarily are, but... can be.
Ah, I just got the feeling they were sorta disappointed that he wasn't exactly like canon Juudai, which they seem pretty passionate about. I do think they've brought up some good points at least, some I even agreed with and have been working on before I even saw this whole thread (And even opened up for suggestions in those areas, should they see the post.)
I personally don't think my AU Juudai is all that bad, yeah he does differ a bit in the ways he sees things or reacts to things at times, but as I pointed out he's had a lot of different experiences, he's met a lot of different people, some of which that have sorta influenced him as well... I think differences like that can bring about many changes in a person, whether that person be fictional, or in real life (I do try to think realistically about his situations quite a lot of the time.) His characterization I haven't pulled out of my ass or anything, I've actually worked really hard on it. To me he still seems like Juudai, maybe not exactly season 4 Juudai, but he's still a Juudai, even if he's a bit of a mix with my own spice thrown in for fun. Playing him has been kinda like watching him grow up so that's why I'm just so attached to this particular Juudai and actually why I don't think I'd ever be able to play another anywhere at all.
I guess I have kinda made him my own in a way, but to me he works well within the game how he is and with the other characters :)
