It's very, very cold

Dec 22, 2008 11:45

Right at the moment I am being visited by Nuit, who obviously has been rolling in something! Stinky cat! She is also finding that it is quite fun to crawl through the various bits of paper on my desk top, of course, rearranging them to suit herself. Hum?

We attended the annual Holiday gathering of friends and family last night. At departure time the drive had not been plowed - it was a fun carnival ride to the bottom- and I was somewhat worried about getting back up our hill. Thankfully, our plow man had visited the drive before we got back and we sailed up the drive with very little slipping and sliding. Today’s bright sunshine should help melt what is out there if it gets warmer than the 8 degrees F (-13.3 C)! BURRRR!

Looks like my mom is getting more snow today. They have already had a total of 70” up there - according to the Weather Channel’s report last night. I am not going to laugh about this too loud since my smugness will backfire on me.

I need to get some suet out for the woodpeckers and other little denizens. One of the red-bellied variety has already been to the feeder twice this morning and looking very confused when finding it empty. Since it is so cold hopefully the bears will be sleeping - they just love the suet.

What made me happy today? Being inside out of the cold and wind. :)

It is the season so…just two more things before I leave you to read the Bits & Pieces…

Since duck is not my favorite thing you could make this with chicken, possibly substituting the rosemary with sage.
