Listening to the CD of the Berthoud HS school show choir, and they're quite good at what they do. Blend and intonation (when they sing accompanied) is perfect. A cappella they have more trouble (like they do Voice Dance and you can tell that it is not a style they are used to singing). But they're really fun to listen to. If I had a choir with a blend like that, I would be perfectly happy. 20 singers, five per section. Plenty big. Troubs does not need to be 32 people.
But my God, Kirby Shaw cannot write scat soli to save his life.
Also, singing with trax is really cheesy. My jazz choir will sing with rhythm section. Maybe Will and I will end up living in the same city and I can hire him to come play. Then all we'd need is a drummer, because by then I will become a fantastic (read: passable) jazz pianist. But yeah, trax are lame.
Nevertheless, the BHS show choir is really good. You'd never expect to find such a good group in such a small town. Or at least I wouldn't, because I know nothing about small towns.
