Summer has been fairly interesting thus far, but it is finally slowing down into some semblance of a schedule.
Right out of school I headed down to Lexington to take the MCAT and really just ended up hanging out with all that crew down there for a week and a half. I will probably have to take the test again sometime soon because I didn’t feel too good about it. I know that was probably just because I didn’t really do much to prepare at all though :-P
Almost immediately after returning from Lexington I drove on over to our nations capital for a sweet three day trip. The purpose of which was to visit the (insert a large number of positive adjectives here) Franny Thomas and catch the Andrew Bird show at the 9:30 club. After taking forevvvvver to get there because of an ill-conceived short cut plan I finally arrived at Franny’s around 6pm. We immediately left and ate at this cool little pub/bar right by the club which was delicious. We then headed across the street and entered the marvelous 9:30 Club!! The first opener was some girl who went by “Joan as Policewoman” but it may have been more accurately described as “Joan as TheWorstBandI’veEverSeen”. During the show and the break between acts Franny and I caught up (she had graduated in December so it had been quite a while) and told stories about awesome stuff we had been up to (She met “Peter of Peter, Bjorn & John; Bjorn of Peter, Bjorn & John; and John of Peter Bjorn and John”!!! So jealous). Fortunately for my sanity Andrew Bird was AMAZING!!!!!! He would sample himself and record over the freshly recorded tracks, while recording THAT together, and repeat like 2-4 times until the background tracks were built up. He is also an absurd whistler. Basically he was the anti-Drees. The show was so fun and cool and the banter was hilarious (unlike Joan’s stupid pot-influenced crap talk) which totally completes a show. During the evening Franny invited me to stay again the next night so we could go see Joseph Arthur, whom I had never heard of, also at the 9:30 club. I placed my faith in Franny’s musical taste and decided to stay for the show.
****FIND OUT WHAT I DID DURING THE DAY AND HOW THAT SHOW WENT AS WELL AS WHAT THE REST OF MY SUMMER HAS BEEN LIKE WHEN I FINISH THIS TOMORROW!!!!!!! Also, you should comment ;)
