So why would I want a new laptop?
Damn it, I don't know!
All I know is that I really want one. My experience with this monstrosity of a surfboard was far from satisfactory, all it did was give me a taste of what I had missed in the past and what I was missing right now. Not that I mind having an actual desktop computer, it's just that I often wish I had portability. If you have to carry your laptop in actual luggage, it's not a real laptop.
Besides, it's also fun to have two computers - one for all your stable needs and one for all your crazyness.
Such luxuries will wait, I have many more pressing matters to focus on.
One thing that would not necessarily be a luxury is this iPhone thing the kids have been talking about. It's coming to Telus. I don't know when, I don't know the details, but I do know that this is the thing that I have been longing for a long time. I'd use italics here but I have already spent on all my font credits.
In my humble opinion the Blackberry is the phone of choice for people who want a "serious" cell phone. It is a tweaker's delight and a texter's best friend. You can feel the love around their conceptualization, it is MADE for people who just want to connect and interact with whatever they need to do.
Their strength is their doorway to their weakness - It seriously lacks "fun". The apps exists but they are lacking, the interface is crude and barely changeable, the MP3 playback is "ok", the small screen does not make you want to watch a movie or a show while commuting and surfing the intertubes is something I do when I absolutely, absolutely HAVE to do it.
That is why I still carry around my iTouch whenever I leave the door. It takes care of the fun part.
Having played with the iPhone I have come to realize that it is not the best phone there is out there after all. The virtual keyboard will stop you in your tracks whenever you need to type special characters - not to mention the severe lack of readily available shortcuts and speed dials. I have noticed some (a while back) of the smart shortcuts available on the BB where not present either.
Still, the dream is to have an easy to use "all in one" tech device that would fit my needs. I will miss my Blackberry but there would be more advantages to have an iPhone.
