Suffering from night owl syndrome I went out to buy some milk around 2 am. I then proceeded to ride around Brossard for the heck of it and figured I might as well hit the DIX30 and see if that new EBgames was now open. As I entered the obviously deserted complex I was curious to see if the sub terrain parking lot was free to access and it was. In fact it was quite big, very well lit and the only sign of life the place had where some rare cards parked here and there. Who left them there or why I had no idea. I could not phantom anyone still working at these hours who would rather park here then in front of the store to do their night job. I drove around the parking for a bit before I gave up on the idea of using this location for a future shoot idea that I had. My imagination was running wild with the types of crimes one could (would) do down here.
I exited the parking lot and noticed the thinking behind the allocation and construction of all the buildings. The main street being beautifully lit has the Cineplex arch at one end, the business complex at the other and a fountain near the middle. Very nice symmetry. Again, ideas about using this place in a deserted night environment crept up. I was turning the corner when I saw the cops.
I could only guess they where the cops because they where obviously driving around looking for something and I could not believe they had the coincidincial idea of looking for the EBgames store as well since they seemed to keep going in my direction. I figured "Nah...Night security". No... It was the cops, but I did not feel like stopping and wait for them as I would fake the idea that I was still looking for locations. I just figured I would look less innocent if I kept driving.
They kept following. I kept driving. No sirens or lights where being flashed. I was just being tailed. When I finally spotted the store I was looking for (which was still closed), I see another car in the distance slowly coming towards me. "Ok, I've had enough". I proceeded to find myself an exit but strangely enough, I hit a more complicated section of the DIX30 and found myself trapped in a strange maze of enclosed parking spaces. The cars kept coming and where almost in range of us not being able to dissociate ourselves without being hypocrites to our respective proximities. I saw the SQ colors on the closest car as it slowly past one of the new street lights.
I finally found an exit, drove away calmly while being followed calmly. As soon as I was around the Blv. Rome corner, they took another turn to re-enter the complex.
Fun stuff.
