Lazy Saturday Thus Far

Sep 18, 2010 14:26

Well, it’s like almost 2:30 PM and I haven’t done a single thing of importance today.

I guess I should feel a little guilty…but I don’t, for whatever reason. I do need to think about getting dressed shortly, though. I have an appointment to get my toe nails painted at 3:00 PM. Got to figure on being there and ready in time for that.

Then what? I have a feeling I’ll end up at Starbucks at school tonight. There is NOTHING better for me to do. And it’s not like I don’t have homework I should be doing. I really need to work on my IS 301 class (the weekly work for that class is due by midnight tomorrow), and I probably should keep up on the reading for my COM 412 class too. The first test for COM 412 is next week…so it really wouldn’t pay to postpone that at all.

I may actually do really well in my classes this semester. Which is odd - I can still clearly hear my ex-husband’s voice in the back of my mind telling me how I can’t ever do well in school, how I just can’t handle it. Well, it looks like I’m totally going to prove him wrong. Yes, my little studio apartment I’m staying in is not all that clean and tidy. Yes, I’m not going out tons with friends and doing much of anything just now. But the good news is that I’m doing GREAT in both on my real classes…even dropping that one credit swim class isn’t that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. And even more importantly that doing well in my classes, I’m really happy in my life right now. Not giddy or ridiculously happy beyond all belief, but I do feel a sense of satisfaction with things. Yes, there are moments when I’m lonely (usually late at night, right before bed) when it’s tough…but I am coping. Some day there will be someone, and I will be glad that I focused on school right now.

Actually, corny though it may sound: I think my new Kindle will help. So far, I love it! I totally read myself to sleep last night. I started The Prince by Machiavelli...and while I can already see why it’s one of those timeless classics, it also totally lulled me into a deep sleep. I give the Amazon people credit: that thing is way cool! I bought one of the lighted covers, too, which is great because there is no lamp near my head where I sleep. This way, I can crawl into bed wide-awake, find something stupid to distract myself with, and then fall asleep reading. The thing has an auto-off feature, so it’s perfect for falling asleep to at night.

Okay. Going to do the “responsible” thing and get my ass in gear. It’s nearly time to leave, and I’m still in my pajamas. I’m looking forward to getting my toes done. I’m kind of leaning towards a purple color this time. The bright pink with glitter was fun this past time, but it’s looking yucky now that I’ve had it on my toes for about a month. Time for something fresh and new!
