Bits 'n Pieces

Florida was awesome! Hanging out with Chris and his family, and spending time with Ang was great! I missed them and it was fun being able to spend a week with all of them. Despite the extreme heat, we had a lot of fun and I didn't spend as much money as I thought I would. At night, we had some wicked storms that were absolutely beautiful. There were some glitches at the beginning of the trip, but they were fixed pretty quick and with no worries (even though I was a bit steamed). My girl kept me from loosing it!

I did conquer some fears of mine, more specifically rollercoasters. I went on the new Sheik-Ra, which is a coaster a Busch Gardens that is 200ft high with a 90 degree drop! Insane. I got the pictures to prove how scared I was. Never again. I went on a couple of other rides too. The day spent at Busch Gardens was the most memorable for me. Great time!

In the world of film...

I highly recommend you rent or purchase Beyond The Sea, starring Kevin Spacey.

Why?

A great, great, great, great movie by a supremely talented actor (you can now add singer/dancer/director to that). Props to Spacey for not just telling the story from A to B, but being creative with how the story is told (through the eyes of his youner self at times). He also fronted the money for this movies because no one wanted to make it (ala Mel Gibson). Spacey creates a film that honors Bobby Darin and introduces this amazing person to a whole new generation in a positive way. The supporting cast is quite solid as well (Goodman, Bosworth). This movie should have received some awards but was seriously overlooked. One of the top 3 movies of the year, hands down.

All I can say is, check it out if you want to watch a really fantastic piece of filmmaking and storytelling.

BONUS: Pick up the soundtrack too, it's very good! If you want the original Bobby Darin, there is a Greatest Hits CD at Best Buy for $9.99 with all the great ones. Either CD is worth the price.

Pistons vs. Spurs. Hmmmm.....tough one. I'm going to go with my boys in 7. I was surprised at how tough Miami made it because I really expected Detroit to play better. I really think that series could have been over in 6. If the Pistons play their D, they could very well end it in 6 agains SA but it's hard to believe that SA is not going to get at leat one win in Detroit.

Tigers...love em to death but can I see some consistency please? At least my PS2 Tigers are kicking but. 130-32 and ALCS Champs. On my way to the World Series! Kittleman, you won't believe some of my guys stats for the season!

Some new movies that I HAVE to see:

Batman Begins
War of the Worlds
Cinderella Man
STAR WARS EPISODE III!!!!!! I know, I know, I still haven't seen it yet, but I gots my reasons.

MOVIE OF THE WEEK TO RENT: Other than Beyond The Sea, in honor of the sudden emergence of Deep Throat's true identity, rent All The Presidents Men on DVD or better yet, buy and read the book! Classic.

Plenty of shows to keep the band busy this summer and into the fall. If anyone is looking for something to do over the summer/fall, maybe we're playing near you and we'd love to have you come out and hang with us! Check out the Tourdates page:
