My eyes have been robots made of white, metallic glaze. They've gazed at you for some time now, mechanically. Before they were robots, they were far better;
We thought a machine could cure inaccuracy. Spell check that troubled us so. Does learning to spell have validity despite technology that is now available? (Yes: research shows a positive correlation between spelling skills and decoding.)
In the past, substances have been used to help us forget things and feel good all of the time:
I am prettier and thinner than I should be and this makes me artificially happy. Later, I'll be very, very glum, so much so that when a friend invites me out for a drink at a place that used to be my favorite bar, I'll decline so that I can drink a bottle of wine in my bedroom, alone.
