So this morning, as I do every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I sit in the gravel lot across from my english class and wait for classes to change so that I can nab a parking spot. One class always lets out at 9:35 which frees up about 15-20 spots around 9:45. Now, its not illegal to wait there (your car in park, but still running) until someone leaves. There was a red car sitting right behind me waiting along with me, but it was up just a little too close for comfort to the back of my car.
To my complete surprise, a woman pulls out right next to me. My car was almost perfectly perpendicular to the spot she pulled out from. She had a tough time pulling out, because I wouldn't move (I wanted the spot), but she did it beautifully. I put my car in reverse, prompting the red car to do the same, so that I might have enough room to maneuver my car into the spot. The red car behind me did not budge. I put my car in park, figuring she didnt see my tail lights change, and put my car in reverse again. Still not an inch to be accounted for on her part. So I release my foot off the brake, and let my car lean back until I touch her bumper. I slowly begin to push her car back with mine -a little trick my aunt and uncle showed me while I was in cali. Before you pass judgment and label me an asshole, let me explain why I pushed her car back.
There is no law against pushing a car with your own. In california it happens all the time. Say you parallel park on a street. Later you return to your car and see it sandwiched in the front and back -there's no way you could possibly get out without tapping and pushing one, or both cars. When done right, no damage is done to either vehicle.
So our cars are both pressed together and I get her car back just a few inches. I'm now able to pull in the spot, so I throw my car in drive and claim my spot. This chick gets pissed off at what I just did and gets out of her car to come try to talk me down. I crack my window open, and she starts her bitching. She keeps asking if I know what damage I've done to her car. I see in my rear view mirror that her car is being held together with duct tape. Her head light is out, and there are multiple scratches down the side of her door.
I chuckle to myself and tell her shes just mad because she wasn't quick enough to grab the spot. This was possibly the best I've felt about myself because she starts threatening me with tickets and felony charges that she's going to give me because she works at the police station (an 18-20 year old chick?). I just laugh it off and she tells me shes got my plate number (inside im roaring at this) and asks me my name and I ask her if she thinks I'm dumb enough to tell her. She storms back to her car and drives away to another lot.
The parking lot is not under video surveillance. I know for a fact that the police will not run a plate number based on personal investigation. I know this because when my purse was stolen, I tried to get the police to run a plate number I collected from the gym. They told me they can't run it because respectively, I could have written down just anyones number and brought upon a false accusation to someone I just didn't like.
Even if this girl does happen to run my plates and track me down, there is no way she can prove I nudged her car back. I can easily turn around and claim that she didn't break in time and tapped my bumper while I was stationary. Police will take one look at her duct tapped car and laugh themselves to their grave. That and I'm sure there is enough crime going on in Akron to keep them busy -I doubt some bitch with a temper is going to sway them to bring charges on someone based on personal testimony.
