Augusten Burrows was at the Varsity today for a screening of Running With Scissors and to sign books as a promotional event for the University Bookstore. I stood next to him (coincidentally!) at the back of the theater while he was watching the ending of the movie based on the book that he wrote about his childhood. It was very strange. If you've read his books, then you know how much weirder it is. His books have inspired me to write about my own strange childhood, even though its no where near as interesting as his. I love his work.

I couldn't be there for the signing, so Stef asked to him sign a poster for the film for me to make me happy. It was so nice of her, especially after I heard how determined she was to get it. When she asked him to write "K-Unit" instead of "Katie" he thought it was funny. I think that's funny! Stef is great!

It says:
K-Unit --
With love and scissors --
'Augusten Burrows Autograph'"

Anyway. I think it's pretty cool.

I'm going to watch a screening of Marie Antoinette now. I have no expectations other than the fact I will be sleepy.
