[Fic] Interlude On Such A Winter's Day - f!Tony/Steve AU (adult, language, themes)
Interlude (On Such A Winter’s Day)
3 chapters now. Ugh. What am I even doing?!
It's an offshoot of my "All The Leaves" story, following the alternate-universe girl!Tony I had spill his secret there.
I'm not really sure where this is going either. Or why I'm sticking with it, other than because getting out any writing is something of an epic achievement for me right now.
But Tony Stark has such a trainwreck life in 616 -- looking over just the 1980's stuff ( Back from the era when I was first into comics, actually. God, that was a long time ago -_-;;; ) he endured, he should be a quivering mass in the corner after all the crap he's gone through. Especially for how many times he's been mind-controlled into being a villain, taken over and used as a weapon directly against his friends, or otherwise had his agency revoked by events. ( including dying as a mind-controlled villain, and brought back as a teen-age version from another dimension. Yeah. Um? )
You'd think he was a Marvel superheroine instead. *badum tsssss*
Not that he doesn't do his own share of screwing up with full agency, but wow, he does get turned into a damsel in distress a lot too. @_@
I'd also forgotten just how much I utterly loathe the writing in the "Execute Program" arc. It's bad Tony writing all around -- unless they were actually intending to go for the whole "Extremis removed his conscience, morals and emotions" angle that they didn't actually follow up on later and make Extremis ultimately a thing that Tony would have to defeat. But they didn't. (hmm.... AU idea? Mayyyyybe.... *muses*)
But no, it's all him, apparently. >:P Well, sure he could get snarky with the best of them, throw quips during fights, but in this he's just callous and insensitive. Plus all his usual friends and support people were removed completely and ignored in favor of two brand new characters with poor judgment just so they could set Tony up as the 'bad guy' for the big then-upcoming Civil War event that turned most of Marvel's hero characters into such petty, backstabbing, non-heroic jerks that they still haven't recovered from it.
Any time they write Tony not talking to Steve Rogers at all, bad shit happens to Tony.
