april fools came a little early...

I have to be at church at 9 to rehearse with the vocalist (who usually doesn't show up until 9:15) on Sunday mornings. I packed my running clothes to change into after church for a run in the park which is just 3 blocks away.  I remembered my small ice chest to keep my cold drink in. I remembered all of my music. I packed it all in my car, including breakfast - a bagel and starbucks frappucino - to eat on the go.

As I was getting out of my car, I looked for my purse in the passenger seat where it usually goes and it's not there. Yep, I forgot it at home - with my wallet and driver's license, mobile phone, chap stick, lip stick... *face palm*

and The week before I left for ABQ, the church had just installed a new sound system that amplifies the keyboard. They were still working out some of the bugs. This morning, I turned everything on and there is barely any volume even with the volume jacked up as far as it will go.

One of the ladies was helping me and she suggested pulling the cable that connects the keyboard into the sound system and plugging it into a different jack. We eventually got sound to come out of the keyboard itself but no sound from the house speakers.

The first time I played on it (before I left), there was no sound coming from the keyboard but only from the house speakers - very strange, I didn't like the "disconnect" effect from what I was playing and what I was hearing.

While we were sorting out the keyboard issues, in walks the soloist who also doubles as pianist on the times when I am out of town. She was under the impression that she was playing this morning and was surprised to see me.

Then we were uncertain who the vocalist was this morning. The person who schedules the soloists was out of town. Of course. /sarcasm. But at 9:30, in walked the soloist. So the other person went home. I felt a little bit bad about that but I was very clear in my email what the dates were and she confirmed it with me before I left.

The rest of the service carried on uneventful. Sheesh! What a morning!

I had a good run in the park later. And this afternoon, I had a good chat with my grandma and aunt.

p.s. Last night was our Mozart Requiem concert with 150+chorus members and orchestra - it was AMAZING!! :D
