Ryo has just finished filming his drama, feeling exhausted but accomplished. He's looking forward to going home and spending the night with Tatsuya, his boyfriend of five years. He's sure that a home-cooked meal would be waiting for him. He hurried to his car.
Meanwhile, Tatsuya was busy preparing dinner. He filmed the first episode of his drama earlier and was quite tired but he knew Ryo would be expecting dinner. He checked the clock and noted that Ryo would be at the door in any minute. He hurried in setting up the table.
Ryo was surprised to come home to a dark house. The hallway lamp is on but other than that, the rest of the house is in darkness. He knows that Tatsuya is already home. The car he used this morning is already at the garage and his shoes is on the rack.
Thinking that his boyfriend might be up to some kind of surprise again, he walked into the kitchen not bothering to turn on the lights. But the kitchen was empty. He turned on the light in the dining room and saw that the table has been set and the food is still hot. It only means that Tatsuya has just finished cooking and is somewhere around the house. So he proceeded to the the next place where his lover could be--the bedroom. To his surprise, the bedroom door was locked.
"Hime, tadaima. Why are you locked inside the room? Is there something wrong? Did something happen during your filming?" Ryo asked worried because Tatsuya would usually be so eager to tell him about what happened to his day. This was the first time that Tatsuya would lock himself up after a day of work.
No response.
"Baby, please open the door. I'm worried already. What's wrong?"
"O-okaeri. I'm fine. Nothing's wrong with me," Tatsuya replied. "Just go eat dinner."
At any other time, Ryo would have listened to his boyfriend and eat dinner alone considering how tired he is. But this time, he knows something is off. Just last night, Tatsuya was so excited about filming his drama. The Tatsuya right now sounds insecure about something that doesn't concern his work. And he doesn't know what it would be.
He decided that this is not the time to let Tatsuya bid his time and let more ideas go in his head. He took the key to the master bedroom and opened the door. He found Tatsuya under the blankets judging from the lump at the top of the bed. He approached the bed slowly and sat near Tatsuya.
"Hime, can you tell me what's wrong?" he asked while stroking Tatsuya's back.
Tatsuya didn't answer but after a while, he sighed. "Ryo... I would understand if you'd want to break up with me. Or if you would not want me anymore."
Ryo looked at the lump that is his boyfriend incredulously. It's been a while since Tatsuya become this insecure. And this time, it doesn't sound like his boyfriend has no trust in him. They have to talk and know what has happened for his lover to act and think that way. He tugged the blanket but Tatsuya won't budge.
Sighing, he got off from the bed and walked towards the door. Tatsuya, thinking that he has left the room, relaxed his grip on the blanket. That was all Ryo was waiting for. He tugged the blanket hard revealing his boyfriend curled in the middle of the bed.
Tatsuya shrieked and pulled the hood up to cover his head but not before Ryo saw his newly shaven head. Ryo finally understood what made his lover insecure this time. He'd known months ago that Tatsuya would be starring in the drama and the changes he would go through. Tatsuya was excited about it too. But he have no idea that losing those red locks would make his boyfriend think that he wouldn't like to be with him.
Ryo lay down beside Tatsuya, embracing him from behind. "Hime~ why would you think I would break up with you?"
"Because I'm now bald?" came the muffled reply.
He chuckled at his boyfriend's reply and turned him over so that Tatsuya would be facing him. He removed the hood and kissed Tatsuya's forehead.
"I'm not that petty. I love you when you have blonde hair and I still love you even when you're bald," he said sweetly kissing his boyfriend's head to make his point.
"I admire you for having the courage to let go of something so precious for a role. It only shows how serious you are about work and how much you love your work." Ryo caressed his cheeks and kissed the tip of his nose.
"I didn't love you because of what you looked like but it did made me notice you. I fell in love with you because of your passion in everything you do. Because you are the kind of person I want to spend the rest of my life with. Because you always stay true to yourself. I love you because you're YOU."
With tears glistening his eyes, Tatsuya hugged Ryo tight. He liked his new hair but he was afraid that Ryo would not like it and would get mad at him. Ryo liked his hair, always caressing it, playing with it. It's rare for Ryo to say such sweet words and it made Tatsuya's heart at ease.
Ryo held his face in his hands and kissed him softly. The kiss turned into a more passionate one which end up with Ryo lying on top of Tatsuya. They broke the kiss after a while trying to catch their breath. Ryo looked at his boyfriend lovingly, taking in the beauty that was under him.
"Ne, hime, you're still pretty but you're more ikemen now," he teased. "I'd be worried that more girls would fall in love with you."
Tatsuya chuckled. "Since I look like a man now, do I get to top?"
Ryo's eyes narrowed. "Hair or no hair, you're still My Hime but maybe I'll let you top once in a while," he said with a laugh before capturing Tatsuya's lips in a searing kiss.
