“What’s that you have with you?” Aoki asked when he saw Tatsuya walk in with a box.
“A package addressed to me. It doesn’t have the sender’s name. Just the address,” he replied.

As soon as Aoki saw the address, he was dialing a number. Tatsuya watched the one-way conversation trying to decipher what it was about. He can’t think of anyone who would send him anything. He never had a lot of social interactions aside from that with his tutors. He never received anything by mail or otherwise as well.

“Why did you send it? …I know he turned 18 already but shouldn’t you wait until he graduated from university? …You should know why I’m so protective! …I understand …I will tell him. …Yes, everything. I won’t leave anything out.” Aoki snapped the phone shut and turned to Tatsuya, “Bring it to the study. It’s about time you know who you really are.”

“Okay, let me summarize what you’ve told me,” Tatsuya spoke for the first time after two hours of listening to Aoki’s story.

“My father should’ve taken over my grandfather’s company but an illegitimate child decided to take the position for himself by killing my family, which he did by making it look like a car accident. Nobody knows I survived from that accident except for my grandfather, who decided that I should be a total outcast so that I can take over his company when the right time comes. And he thinks that knowing my identity, after 15 years of being in the dark, I would be willing to be trained and take over the company just like that. This is nothing but bullshit! Or maybe what you said was a lie too!”

Tatsuya is so confused. For many years, he thought who he really was. His parents are business people and are hardly home because of that. He has to move around so that he’d be closer to where his parents are. And to think they’ve been dead since he was three. He was angry for the web of lies woven around him and the person whom he trusted the most was the one telling all those lies. He’d never felt so lost in his whole life. He doesn’t know who to trust anymore.

He ran out of the house without a destination in mind. All he needs to know is that he has to run away. He wanted to be free-from lies, from confusion, from everything.

“I don’t care how you will find him, just find him! I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if something happened to him. I didn’t save him from that accident just for her to find him. …Yes, she knows he’s alive the moment I went missing,” Aoki said while grabbing his car keys. “I can’t sit here and wait for bad news! I’m going to drive around to look for him.”

‘Dammit! I know she’s just waiting for a chance like this! I’d be damned if I let her get to him first. Tatsuya, where are you?’ Aoki thought with worry as he drove towards the park. It’s the place he thought Tatsuya would go instinctively.

Tatsuya, on the other hand, sat on a bench. When he looked around, he realized that he does not know the park where he is. This place has thicker foliage and smaller than the one closer to home. He sighed and thought back on everything that Aoki told him. There are holes in the story, if that story was the truth. There is still something that Aoki failed to mention or was keeping from him.

‘But through these years, Aoki-nii took care of me. I should be grateful that he did even if I’m not his own child. I should have clarified things first before I let my emotions get the best of me,’ he thought with a sigh. ‘I think it’s best if I go home and talk to him again. I’ll make my decision after I understood everything. Tatsuya, use your head this time.’

As he was about to leave the park and find his way home, when a shadow moved and the only thing he felt was a stinging pain on his neck before everything went black.
