Entry #15: More Art

Nov 22, 2009 01:10

Well, hello! I am so very pleased with myself right now.

I have just finished a very rough sketch of the mural that I would like to do for my art CPT(huge project that's worth 5-15% of your overall mark). The mural is based on WWI, WWII, the Vietnam War, and the current war going on today. I've been busy lately (hence the no posts until recently) so I've been putting off the sketch for this mural for a while, even though the whole idea and vision of it is ingrained in my brain. So just an hour or so ago, I've searched up pictures of the said wars above on Google, and I chose a few select pictures (though I wish I could put more. I might, depending on the wall space I'm given at school) and put them together into something like a collage. I am already pretty excited to see how this will turn out, enormous and colourful.

***Edit: I've changed the middle part of the first sketch. Will be starting to paint it in January!

Here's the sketch:

And here's the next rough sketch where I tweaked some parts a bit:

Here are two recent art pieces I've done:

I felt that this one wasn't one of my best works. It's the biggest pencil drawing I've ever done, and I'm afraid the hugeness of it overwhelmed me. I simply did not have enough time to finish it to my heart's desire. The assignment was to take a small piece of a large photograph, and enlarge it. I chose a picture of a ceremony in a place called Bali.

I really enjoyed (and hated) creating this particular piece. It's one of the few real hands-on experience I've gotten from the art class I take. The medium (is that the correct term here?) used was soapstone, and with the help of some superb carving tools, I was able to make this. I'm a painter kind of girl, so this piece was frustrating at times - but overall, the result was fabulous :]

That's all, folks!
