What's up?

What's up with me?

HINT: Mundane things.

  • At work we are about to take on a bunch of projects. One of them is for the World Bank, and it involves building this major map composing/data uploading/styling/downloading/Web 2.0 collaboration thing for data about natural hazards in Central America. It should be awesome, assuming we don't fuck it up. In the past, we have fucked up projects because of poor planning. So this time, I've taken on a lot of responsibilities related to planning things out, the most significant being "Estimates." "Estimates" is what we call it when you figure out roughly how long it will take you to do something before you tell the client that are going to do it on a particular budget. They are notoriously hard to do for software. I find it very stressful but feel very motivated to do it because if we don't, we'll underestimate things go way over budget and life will suck for everyone.
  • I am going back to Providence for commencement this weekend. I never expected to go back my second year out, but I know enough people that are going back this year to make it worth it.
  • I GMed for the first time in many years last night, and it went basically better than it ever went back in 8th grade. This is not surprising; all of us are much more mature people with a stronger grasp on reality and Jowett had some really great Scotch.
  • I feel intellectually lazy lately because I seem to be expending all my energy on: work, active recreation, socializing, and recovering from persistent nagging illness.
  • I also feel unhealthy lately because I haven't gotten any real exercise in a few weeks. It is annoying difficult to have it all.
  • I still need to secure a roommate for the coming year. There's a good prospect but it's complicated in a way that requires me to call the landlord again, which I have been procrastinating about all week.
  • I think I'm going to throw a big party on the 30th.
