Classes haven't started yet, but being back on campus, seeing the people here, and working on academic stuff (TAing the AI course again--this time head TAing) is getting me back into the mood. It's a little exhilarating, to be honest.
Babyface started pushing for us to get into an exercise routine again, which works out swell for me, since I've been getting sick of my own sloth. Today we went for a run.
Then I came back and made dinner with Howard Prospect. Good Lord, we made the most delicious pork chops. We made a dry rub of red and black pepper, thyme, basil, and salt. We were amazed at, as it cooked, it sucked in the red wine that we poured around it, making them swell and turning them purple. Howard took his first bite, then, barely keeping a straight face, stopped me mid sentence and said "Try your pork chop." It was the most succulent pork chop I can remember eating, and my lips still tingle from the spices in the dry rub.
I'm taking that as a good omen for this semester. Everyone I talk to is planning on playing down the courses this semester and taking it easy. Everyone who isn't writing a thesis, that is. I'm going to be stressing about the future (what am I doing with my lifeINTERROBANG) most of the semester, but if I eat as well as I ate tonight, I'll be a happy man.
The only thing bothering me now is my divided attention. I really, really need to get this Tetlock review done. Yesterday, I install a new computer game on my computer and, intending to play it for an hour, instead played for three and a half before shambling off to meet friends at the GCB (I got there late).
"Get a grip," I says to myself.
