 Those that know me will possible remember I have a tee-shirt with the slogan "No Kangaroos in Austria", purchased at the tourist office in Vienna a few years ago.

I travelled from Dortmund to Berlin yesterday. Trains at Dortmund were subject to delays when I got to the station just after ten. My train, due at 10:48 was marked as running five minutes late, but arrive about 35 minutes late. It got into Berlin about an hour late ( Read more... )

In my never-ending effort to catch up with my backlog of books and SF magazines, I'm currently reading an issue of Analog from 2007.  The lead story is Murder on Parliament Street by Barry B. Longyear.  This is a rather fun police procedural set in a future version of Exeter in Devon.  Longyear has obviously done his homework and I brought up a map ( Read more... )

So I book a ticket to see an opera at the Hackney Empire next week, and next thing I know, there's been an electrical explosion outside the town hall, which is next door to the theatre.  But I see that it was a good 90 minutes before I made my booking, so it can't have been something I've done.

I see from the Indie newsfeed that a WW2 bomb has been discovered in Lewisham.  As far as I can tell, Boone Street is just round the corner from where I used to live.
