The past 3 days, I've been training for the Green Army Man Pre-Parade gig. Tuesday night, we were rehearsing LATE on the parade route in Cali Adventure (we had to rehearse late because the park didn't close til 8:00). We were doing a show stop in front of the entrance arch of the Hollywood Backlot. The forced-perspective street was still lit up and it looked absolutely gorgeous. Then, the fireworks show started going off across the way at Disneyland. We were the only 8 people in DCA, rehearsing with this beautiful backdrop with a firework show blasting away above us. It felt like I was standing in the middle of a movie.
Rehearsal let out at midnight, and I started my long walk to where I was parked, when my stage manager offered me his bike. (People who work behind the scenes in the entertainment dept get bikes issued to them so they can get around the back of the park a lot quicker and easier) I happily accepted his offer. Then, after midnight, I was riding a bike through California Adventure. There was absolutely NO ONE around, and it was still lit up with all its BEAUTIFUL colors. I decided to take the long way and went up over Paradise Pier, across the boardwalk, etc... It was SOOOOO unreal. Who EVER thought they'd be riding a bike around Disneyland with NO ONE ELSE around to be seen?! It was definitely an experience I will never forget.
