Mark and Lard are leaving BBC Radio 1, about time. Now maybe if they got rid of Scot Mills too it might be bareable.
Anyway just some random stuff.
I'm not an obsessive fan of anime or manga, in fact I find that much anime is crap, bad art, bad plot etc. but then there are others that really make it worth watching. I have to say that I've not seen a hell of a lot of anime and stuff but I would have to say that the best i have seen are;
Patlabor, Patlabor 2, The Wings of Honiamise (i think that is the correct spelling), Akira, Ghost in the shell, Macross, Macross plus, animatrix, final fantasy:spirits within (okay the plot is dodgy but the visuals are excellent).
Now I'm talking about anime because I saw this
http://www.apple.co.jp/quicktime/trailers/appleseed_large.html which looks pretty damn good. It is Appleseed by Masamune Shirow (Ghost in the Shell). And the art and animation looks excellent.
I find that if I watch anime I treat it like a real film, I want it to be just as good, I want a good plot, I want the art to be immaculate and I want the voice acting to be good, most anime can't live up to my expectations, Ghost in the Shell was excellent in art and the voice acting was great but the plot was a bit thin in places and the story was altogether tool short, and that is probably my fav. anime.
I really want to see more anime especially after seeing the appleseed trailer but I am aprehensive after seeing things like, Dragonball Z, Digimon, Devilman, Dominion Tank Police! Those are such crappy series/anime that it puts me off going out an buying anime that I've heard good stuff about.
I'd like to see Serial Experiments:Lain but I don't have a DVD player, I don't want to get a fansub version and again I just don't know enough about it to be willing to fork out some money for it.
Also I heard that there is an anime film/series based upon Final Fantasy 7 to be released and I'm thinking that it could be a disaster! FF7 is a great game but will the film be up to the standard? I know there is two final fantsy animes based upon FF6 (i think, might be FF5), but I heard they were not very good. I hope the FF7 anime does it justice.
On the subject of Final Fantasy, I hate not having a PS2. FFX had to be my fav FF game so far and even though I think FFX-2 is kind of a sell out (sequel based upon same in game terrain only different plot and a few different people/costumes). Then I heard that there could be FFX up to FFX-5!! Why? I'm sure that the story will become thin if it is dragged out over 5 games. Not that I wont play them of course I will but I fell kinda torn because it feels like square are just milking one FF game until they can release PS3 releases. Plus nintendo are back on the FF bandwagon, does this mean that to have a complete FF experience I have to get a gamecube as well (My nan calls Gamecubes Squareboxes! she gets mixed up with the X-box I think it is hilarious!).
Then the question of FF11. Will we? wont we? How much will it be if we do get it? How could UK gamers compete with the Japanese and Americans if they have had the game so long? It is just silly.
I'm thinking things are getting very commercial these days and I don't like how I have absolutely zero money.
Okay have no idea why i went on an anime and FF rant.
I'm more of a books and comics guy really but I do like FF games.
