This is from last September (2008). I am getting ready to have surgery again, not by Dr. Lu but by Gary McBride, M.D.
Saw Dr. Lu yesterday. My bones are soft; one of them buckled where he had put them together, I guess. It's confusing. By looking at the x-rays he sees halos around the screws, whatever that means. The top part is beginning to separate. He would prefer there was no separation.
I have three choices: redo the fusion, have a procedure performed where he actually ties things together, or do nothing and be in pain every frigging day.
The fusion - same down time - three months. The tying procedure - 4-6 weeks down time.
He offered an epidural. I said they don't work. He said they would put it in the right place and it would probably take some of the nerve pain away.
When I rise from a seated position he explained that there are two sections that are supposed to work in harmony but they don't get along so they separate, it takes me a while to get up and the pain sucks.
