Give me my honourary badge!
I just completed my duty this morning, it was so great to be back home to Bangkok once again. As much as I like Chiangmai, it's not my home.
Anyway, talking about work. I had the highs and the lows of the IPPF President visit; of course the hierachy and bossy bits are tad annoying. I had a great time at the reception dinner for Dr.Sharpe on Thursday, which hosted by AFPPD, the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population Development. Guests that night were included representatives from UNFPA, UNESCAP, Planned Parenthood Federation of America International etc. So it was great u know, socialising with top ranked NGOs officers *LOL* This is the best part of my job right now; Meeting new interesting people. I was later approached by IPPF Asian Regional Director saying that i should work for UNESCAP as it would hel broaden my perspectives. Obviously, not that i dun want but it seems so hard for me. Maybe when i'm well-connected then i can move on *grin*
We went to Chiangmai from Friday to Sunday and i was knackered all the time coz well, the president and Regional Director wanted to shopping all the time! I was tired although i only walked around, followed them through crowded narrowed road of Night Bazaar. The great bit of this trip was the field visit at one of our project. We worked on capacity building of community to take care of People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWAs) in their community. And it was touching to see these people living with others well without any discrimination. We set up PLWAs centre in community and the head of centre was infected by HIV for 10 years now and she's still pretty much healthy (apart from blindness on her left eye). I told ya what, this is my inspiration. I need this to keep me working on coz i know i'm one of this little tiny thing that keep this organisation going and helping people more (although pretty much i would love to work on the implementation or monitoring bits more so i'm ready to leave anytime). I also updated news with our staff in Northern office, that's the nice bit of going places where u know people; the warm welcome and the friendly feeling. I also met our Intern from Yale and Mr.Robert, who is now helping us developing proposals. It was great that khun Bob, who's American and married to Thai, studied Anthopology and read a lot of Russian stuffs so yes, someone to discuss Russian stuffs with *LOL*
Right, am too knackered coz i woked up since 4.30am this morning so i must go to sleep now!
