All This Vessel Brought To Me [poems 32/37?]

All This Vessel Brought To Me

Escaping wasn’t the hard part, no

Despite the angelic voices sounding

Alarms of caution

Or whispered apologies of betrayal

No, the self-imposed mission

Was the difficult part

Due to an inner struggle,

Once though not capable of

Until this vessel was appreciated

By strangely vibrant green eyes

Until this vessel was embraced by safe arms

Until this vessel was thoroughly

Explored by callused hands

And this angel was met with

A kindred, albeit inferior, soul

The exchanges made that night were more

Than just casual pleasantries

Maybe not a declaration of utmost undying love

But certainly, a promise of protection

In the joining, however temporary, of two like spirits

Fate to us was unbeknownst

But had we that knowledge or foresight

Of these events that have come to pass

Would we have bothered to intertwine at all?

Locked away, this humanity was obliterated, freed

Swords were drawn and promises broken

And in the end, lines were crossed

That we can never go back on

supernatural poetry
