Another thing with that is a lot of times diagnosies must be made in order for insurance to pay for treatment (I almost said tx, I am becoming a true counselor *cry*), so that adds to the problem of people having milder symptomology getting diagnosies just so their insurance will pay. It is horrendously unethical, but money rules the world.
I'm diagnosed with OCD and I agree with you completely. It really annoys me when people confuse quirks with a notable decrease in be able to function. Sometimes I have to yell at myself to get out of the house for class.
But hey, that's only because I paid for all of this, too :)

We are a nation looking for excuses to to explain what we are, instead of taking responsibility for our own actions. And then want to take a pill for everything.
I agree, there are actually people with disorders, but I'd say there are was too many people on medication that don't need to be.
