I've been wanting to try/get into yoga more, but most of the workouts I come across are TOO beginner or way too earthy crunchy for me. I still want to feel like I worked out, just in a different way. I've done the JM ones a few times, and they're okay, but even level is a little more intense than what I'm really looking for.

Enter YRG (yoga for regular guys). I won't go into the whole thing but basically, it was created by a former wrestler who wanted/needed an alternative workout that would help him get better but that was also an APPEALING workout. If you're interested, here's the site for more info: http://www.ddpyoga.com.

Anyways, I don't want to plunk down a bunch of money on DVD workouts that I'll never do or lose interest in, but I was able to download the older version, circa 2009-ish. I started on Monday and this is pretty much exactly what I was looking for when I was looking for a yoga routine. It's difficult and challenging, still lots of stretching, but also lots of resistance, too - with your own body weight. I also like that you work up a sweat and get your rate up without really doing too terribly much. There's a 20, 40 and 60 minute workout. My goal is to stick with it through the month of June. This week, I'm alternating the 20 and 40, and I think I'm going to give the 60 minute a try on Saturday when I actually have an hour to dedicate. From there, I'll probably dedicate a week to each of them and leave the 60 minute for just Saturdays.

Let me tell you: this workout will kick your butt! I worked out from 5:45 - 6:30 this morning. It's not almost noon and my quads/thighs and arms are still killing. I feel like I'm already sleeping better and feeling stronger, but I'm not sure how much of that is just in my head. Either way, I can't wait to keep up with this routine and see how I feel at the end of the month.
